Just a gut feeling that our biggest trade hasn’t happened yet.

You’re thinking Detmers is happening again? 🤔

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

A better rental pitcher than Castillo or Stephenson trade I would qualify as better than Brazobán and Castillo lol

Also I don't think this trade takes us out of the running for Holmes.

Wonder if the Sox DFA Romo and trade Quero, Hays ,a RP, Thorpe, Adams, Sandlin.

Would we hold on to Romo until Teel is healthy? Or just call up Hasse and have him back up Stephenson?

I don't think the Sox will get him. He's not a rental. The Angels want a ton.

I was thinking a Stephenson , Haase duo. But we'll find out if it's that drastic soon enough.

I guess they have to decide if it is likely Teel will be back or if he’s a 60-day IL guy. Can’t look now but I would probably keep whichever catcher hits righties better (I know I know. Both their stats overall are bad) since Stephenson is right handed in this scenario.

Feels like the Angels are just delusional enough to keep him.

Unless he is part of the deal, Quero is starting to hit a little bit. I'd keep him as the back up. I don't know how much longer they can have Romo, an automatic out in the line up. Initially, he at least hit some long balls, but hasn't for a couple of months.

Agreed. Not sure why people are acting like Haase is anything. He’s bad.

Anything is better than Romo right now. He’s an automatic out and his at bats are non competitive

I also think they’ll want to keep one catcher up who is familiar with the staff. Hard to have two totally new catchers mid-season.

Stephenson helps us with our issue with hitting LHP. If Teel does come back, would love to see a scenario where they platoon. Could also give Teel some at bats at DH to ease him back in. Stephensons career numbers are good against left handers, although this year they are really bad. Important to note this year's sample size vs lefties is really small. Also, the metrics indicate a lot of it is down to bad luck.

At this point, I think I would mostly start Stephenson. Not really straight platoon, but Teel can find his playing time against righties catching 2-3 days a week.

He makes just under $3M and makes just under $6M. I know it’s not a lot of money but I would think they would try to deal away as much money as possible haha

Your team is also dogshit why are you keeping a backup catcher that teams want?

Stearns first order of business was to kill all the vibes from the 2024 Mets.

As we've learned from this Sox team, vibes are important.

This makes sense. The Sox have made two deals with the Mets already and Torrens wasn’t included in either.

I'm guessing today is Wolkow's last day WSD

He does have two more years of control. Maybe they are expecting a quick turnaround. And ironically, just when you think you have an established starting catcher, s%*# happens and you have to rely on your backup or an offseason waiver claim at catcher. See the 2026 White Sox.

It's like keeping relievers.

Still think our old friend James McCann would make some sense as a rental

Not acting like Haase is anything more than a temporary backup to Stephenson because Quero and Romo have been horrific in a lot of ways.

While Haase isn't much of a hitter or even very good defensively, He does have a very good rep as a game caller and in game adjustments , has caught 2 no hitters and caught Skubal when Skubal was on the rise.

Advanced game-management metrics (such as Adjusted Earned Runs Saved, which measures pitch-calling and plan execution) have rated him near the top of the major leagues.
