We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

I'm guessing today is Wolkow's last day WSD

Fully agree…would be shocked if he survives the day. The other guy I see as a high possibility of being moved is Mogollon.

Lol this deadline sucks! Why do we want this guy

They must like his power, speed, defense combo and believe they can get him back to his 2024 form.

His strike out numbers make me want to puke.

Apparently it’s official now according to Rosenthal

Doyle has an option, I think is just backfilling Nolan Jones, with Hays due for a DFA

Nolan Jones wasn’t on the 40-man though

We traded Mason Adams for Brenton Doyle???? WTF kinda deal is that?

Did we overestimate what people around the league though of Mason Adams. I mean, what a dog s%*# return.

Sure looks like it! Let’s remember that Mason is 26 years old.

True, they still need a body to occupy that space in case someone were to get hurt though.

True. But he kind of lost a year due to TJ surgery right? Idk, still wouldn’t have made this move

I will say that outside of the top 8 or so in the system, it’s horrible

Doyle is 28 and a negative fWAR player right now. And we gave up a DSL prospect to boot.

We may have to escape the binary thinking on guys where we either only look at what they've done this season or we only look at what they've done before this season

This deadline is a good reminder that Jerry Reinsdorf still owns this team

He has 1500 career at-bats in Colorado and has a 670 OPS. This is no small sample size to work off of.

The only other thing I would say is that Getz and team have been very good about fixing swings. Maybe they think there is a fix here that makes him a serviceable 4th outfielder.

But man, surprise Mason Adams value is that low.

Same here… but before today I didn’t even know Brenton Doyle’s name.

Looks like they must believe they can get him back to putting the ball in the air ( this year he’s hitting almost 60% of his balls on the ground when he was almost a 30/30 guy he was closer to 40% ) and they must also believe that his oblique is what killed his defense.

They might be thinking they are buying low on a potential gold glove centerfielder controlled through 29 that they feel they can get 20+ homers and 20+ steals from.

That’s totally fair normally, but a super risky way to approach the deadline.

He went from being a guy people were worried about losing in the Rule 5 Draft even though he was injured and missing a good amount of time to being thrown away for an underperforming (putting it nicely) player

This is well said and I agree - I also presume their front office didn't see Adams as being a ML guy as a starter and probably knew they had to move him now given the upcoming roster crunch issues.

Don't like this but in Doyle's defense, he's been injured for large parts of the year

The over on 2 1/2 will not only be hit but blown out of the water.

Seems like the second trade where we give up more value than we receive. Someone must have really been pushing for him.
