it probably got lost with the ones saying he was the best

There actually is another ABS metric out there that weights the impact of challenges differently, and he does rate highly in that one.

Will probably take more sample size for there to be a consensus on ABS analytics either way though.

Sam has such a quick fuckin swing, that was gorgeous

Would’ve been nice if the pitching didn’t give up 10

Could have easily been a 7 to 3 winner.

We’re still in first place boys.

I lost 3 houses and one of Greg's houses too. I'm all out of houses.

Fun factoid -- Burke is our only starter with better road vs. home splits. Get em tomorrow Sean

I can't help but wonder. Who is going to be the starting pitchers this weekend in Detroit. I'm assuming Fedde on Friday, Martin on Sunday. Who will it be on Saturday? Is there anybody they can bring up from the minors?

Burke, Fedde, and TBD (my guess is Martin).

The White Sox Are Coming, Tra La, Tra La!!!!

Every game Ozzie goes on TV and gives advice that, if Colson listened to it, would cause him to become the guy who was striking out at a 50% rate in AAA in early 2025. His whole breakthrough was driven by accepting his limitations and not trying to be a complete, all-fields, high-contact hitter.

Hopefully the Knicks parade doesn't make getting in and out too difficult tomorrow with the Sox having to travel to DET after a night game

Edgar ranks 88 out of 91 for runs he costs the team by challenging (i.e., he's third worst). He's second worst if you ignore the game situation and focus solely on how many challenges he wins vs. loses given the opportunities he's had. The only way you can make him look "good" is if you just look at the sheer number of challenges won, which he ranks modestly high at, but that's only because he challenges a higher percentage of pitches than any catcher in MLB. The portion of his challenges rated as "reasonable" (based on the pitch location and the count/game situation) is near the worst as well.

sucks that Jacob Gonzalez probably won't ever get another long look at the big league level on the Sox after Teel and Murakami are back, the skeptics were right about his power being CLT aided it looks like

His first homer still hasn’t landed, so I’m not so sure his power is park aided. I hope they keep him as a utility player when Mune comes back. Get rid of Acuna. His only value is as a pinch runner. It’s brutal to watch him bat.

Maybe it is us to take our learnings. This was a 100 loss team and many predicted a 100 season this year.

We've gotten greedy thinking division or wild card (even more possible). It would be a disappoint missing that possibility but their time is not now.

This team just took 5 of 6 from the two best teams in baseball. Nobody is saying their time to win a World Series but whom outside the Yankees and Rays our better then us in the AL?

Struggles in NY predate this year too, they haven't won there since the first game of a doubleheader in June 2023.

Eloy (who started in RF lol) hit a go ahead HR, and Graveman got the save. Moncada and LRJ also hit HRs.

Then they lost the second game and now 8 more in a row since.

Celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary tonight, came home to check the box score.

The Yankees can sure balloon a pitchers ERA can't they? No question they are the best team in the A.L. and when they get Fried back the starting pitching will be even better.

Maybe they can sneak out a win tomorrow.

10 straight losses at Yankee Stadium now.

10 runs today and 12 runs yesterday. Sox need better pitching at Yankee Stadium with that short RF porch.

Having been at the game, I can say that on another night, it could have easily been 7-3 White Sox

Can’t wait for Teel to be back. Quero is a back up at best.

Horrific job by the umpire in Braden's AB. Missing two completely different locations by a clear margin in 3 pitches.

Is this ump the latest reincarnation of Angel Hernandez?

When we were kids we loved going to some of the local parks in Chicago to watch men's softball. Many of the players were firemen, police or tradesmen - big dudes with big biceps and beer bellies that could spank the sh1t out of the Clincher. Watching this Sox team could end up like watching softball - see who can out swat the other team. This year's rotation is, as WhiteSox 2023 described them in his own inimitable way at the beginning of the season, is "ass." Fedde, Kay, Davis, Burke are probably one of the worst WSox rotations I can recall. That's too bad because our position players are the best we have had (as a group) since 2005. They deserve better but I don't see that happening this season. Minor league call-ups? Trades? Just can't see it.

A lot of the better minor league pitchers are hurt or recovering from TJS so I wouldn't expect much from that end. As far as trades? Maybe? But with the labor situation again, I wouldn't count on much.

Nothing will beat first half 2006 offense.

2008 with Quentin until he hurt himself....Alexei GSs.

2010/12

2019-21 was fun as well.

can't say this is a great offense due to OF catcher Benintendi Acuna...especially without Teel/Mune

Colson still barely over 220 ba but effective overall.

Even if they lose Wednesday, the fact that they would have won five games during this brutal two week stretch is worth noting.

At least they wouldn't have completely fallen apart.

Especially with Martin and Kay both having a pair of ugly starts

Almost everyone would have expected Martin pitching to a 9+ ERA over this stretch to translate to a much worse record than 5-5
