White Sox @ Guardians, 6:10 PM, Kay vs Williams

Just saw this stat:

Sox relief pitchers have now given up 113 runs on the road this season, the most in MLB.

Cleveland commentators mentioned that during the broadcast explaining why the Sox are dominant at home and pathetic on the road and they said that explains it all, and they're not wrong. Two winnable games vs Cleveland, both lost by the bullpen.

Today’s negative note of day brought to you by Lip Man!

Venable says postgame that Seranthony pitched better than the boxscore looks, since ump stole a strikeout from him. On the other hand, I see Venable's actions: pulling Seranthony at the first opportunity even though failing to get an inning from him was disastrous for our pitcher usage. So, I think the postgame comments amount to a little bit of ass-kissing for Seranthony.

He has looked tired to me. All star break hopefully helps him reset.

Looks like he has a bad back to me

If bringing in Murakami means taking Gonzalez bat out of the lineup, not a huge bunch of upside with that move

Use upgrade in terms of power

I was hoping that Murakami would have been activated to DH in this important 4 game series. The season only was so many games against a team fighting for the division. Sox needed him.

Well we know that has been an issue for him. Getting flashbacks of Joe Crede and Bill Melton.

I don't really see a place on the team for Jacob when Mune comes back. But Jacob has impressed me and has nothing to hang his head about. We'll likely see him back at some point.

If/when they bring back Mune, Gonzo could stay at 1B with Mune at DH , at least for the time being.

Again, IMO, that should have been done at the outset of this series. It will be difficult to pick up 4 games against Cleveland if we get swept , especially after they bring back Ramirez.

Take one. Come home.

Maybe tomorrow...maybe some day..

By no means do I think this is a competent bullpen but to be fair I saw recently a stat that said they have either thrown the most innings or made the most appearances (maybe both) in MLB.

That is a direct result of the Sox having a starting pitching staff that can't go deep into games and basically doesn't scare anybody. Hell they don't even have a fifth starter they can use regularly.

This is a bad pitching staff from top to bottom.

We'll never know what Getz has been allowed to do by JR but he has to bear some responsibility for putting this staff together, or maybe to the point not putting together at least a decent one for the year. (And if the Sox were flailing away in the standings again they could be used a trade fodder.)

The way things have been going I'd be happy with a single win and 3-4 on the road trip.

And both in walk off fashion. Need to beef up the bullpen ASAP. It’s our Achilles heel today.

Offense is not our problem. Relief pitching is. With Mune or without him, we still have a problem with the pitching side. Need to start planning for deals at the trade deadline.

Platoon him with Chase

He didn’t expect them to contend. Why spend heavily on a staff if you expect it to be a rebuilding year with moderate progression from last? This team was never intended to be in a race in July.

Kinda hoping we get rained out tomorrow so the bullpen can rest. Split the doubleheader on Sunday and get our asses home

Arguably, at least Hagen Smith was expected to be a viable starter...if not McDougal later in the season.

But the fact all the TJS pitchers weren't going to be ready until at least the second half certainly wasn't a surprise at all.

Then you have the Shane Smith slide.
