We'll see what happens. You said you wished they could open up a divisional lead, without solid consistent pitching that's going to be hard to do. Unless Getz can get some help it figures to go down t

He's played in every game since he's been up and started all but 1 IIRC, so one imagines it's just an extra day off.

  • I can handle it as I was forged in the crucible called "watching Hagen Smith pitch"

This game sucked from start to finish. And I’m not sure why you guys are talking about Thorpe like he’s dead. Maybe he sucks maybe he doesn’t. We don’t know yet.

NS not getting it done

Missed a chance to go 2 up on the Guardians

Just think a year ago we wanted them to be 2 games up from the worst team in baseball

The best piece in a trade for a guy like Cease needs to have more upside. How many great starting pitchers in the current MLB sit at 91 MPH? Logan Webb? Davis Martin throws a tad harder. There's barely any pitchers who are great at that velocity. It was just a terrible trade. No need to sugarcoat it.

Of course. You're right. But again, Thorpe was a top 40 prospect. There is no disputing that. I think it was fairly well agreed upon that he got the mandate to trade Cease in spring training, and there was probably one deal on the table. Getz got what he could.

This team has been good at shrugging off bad losses....get em the next 2 days and win the series.

Boston is red hot right now, these next two games won't be easy.

Regarding Schultz, personally I think he needs to spend a lot more time in the minors learning his craft but I understand why the Sox brought him up.

The starting pitching situation they are in is not good and they were hoping he could help.

Maybe in three weeks after the trade deadline he's sent back down but right now he's very inconsistent from game to game and when you are in a divisional race like with Dominguez, how much rope can you afford to give him?

I can't help but wonder if NS days are numbered on this team. He has control issues. They can't keep going with him if he can't get the ball over the plate.

Valid concern but the issue is who can they replace him with? The Sox already don't really have a fifth starter there's no way they could survive without a fourth starter who at least goes out there every time.

Like I posted Schultz need to go back down but then what?

Sandlin. He's a better option than Schultz currently IMO. Let's see how Sandlin looks when he gets a longer leash. He's definitely got the stuff to be good. Needs to improve his command.

Who is a better in-game manager - Grif or Venable?

White Sox curse from 2000-2016...major league wins always at the expense of the minors, either via trades or scattershot development.

This was supposed to be another year for Schultz and Hagen to finally get their feet wet without any pressure at the big league level to win...like the late 80s Braves.

Now you're down to Sandlin and maybe Shane Smith unless you trade for a veteran back end guy to hold down the fort.

Hopefully Clevinger is officially retired.

Idk but I miss the ‘83 Sunday kit.

They need to trade for two starting pitchers in my opinion. The question is can Getz get it done? (And would JR allow it?)

I really love the jerseys from 1967-1969. They're great looking IMO. I'm surprised we don't see them more. We see 83 all the time.

Think of the different ownership groups...from late 60s to JR.

It's the same way they ended up with those Bulls' City Connect jerseys.

I have that exact Aparicio jersey. Love it.

It's such an awesome jersey. I've been waiting for them to bring them back so I can buy one, but they haven't for a while. I remember one of the Abreu years they brought them back. It was about 8 years ago or so?

I don’t remember where I bought it from, but I do remember it selling out pretty quick. I got lucky.

It’s a little surprising they haven’t made them more available based on how popular it seemed to be.
