1 hour ago1 hr Author Eric Segura RHP Oregon StateSegura is a sinker-slider righty with mirror traits that turn teams on to his profile. He'll primarily operate in the low-90s bucket, though he's been up to 97 with heavy spin and sink. As he fatigues, Segura's fastball flattens out a bit and morphs into a deadzone, vanilla fastball. That should iron itself out over time under the instruction of OSU coaches. The breaking ball flashes plus with two-plane tilt and strong sweeping shape. Segura has shown a changeup now and again, but it lacks consistency, though feel for shaping the pitch seems to be present. He possesses a starter's operation with ease and repeatability, though it may never be a prototypical bat-missing profile. The cherry on top of Seguar's profile is a below-average launch height and above-average extension down the bump. He has every tool in the bag to start at the next level.
1 hour ago1 hr Author 67. Eric Segura RHPHt: 6'2" | Wt: 215 | B-T: R-RSchool: Oregon State. Committed/Drafted: Never Drafted. Age At Draft: 21.5.BA Grade/Risk: 45/AverageSegura was a standout projection righty coming out of high school and quickly earned a key role with Oregon State’s pitching staff as a freshman in 2024. He has thrown at least 50 innings in all three of his seasons with the Beavers, capped by a career year in 2026 where he posted a 2.22 ERA over 15 starts and 73 innings. Segura is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound righthander with a drop-and-drive delivery and low release. He has steadily come into more velocity over the years and now sits around 93-94 mph with his fastball and has touched 96. Segura’s fastball seems like more of a natural two-seam variant that won’t miss a ton of bats, but should drive plenty of ground balls. His sweeping mid-80s slider is his go-to pitch when he needs a whiff. Against lefties, he increases the usage of an upper-80s changeup, but his ability to land the pitch consistently is spotty. His pitch mix and collegiate track record should earn him every opportunity to start in pro ball, but his fringy or below-average strike-throwing adds some reliever risk.Scouting Grades: Fastball: 50 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45

59 minutes ago59 min I’m going to make a bold statement. Segura’s combination of on-field success (2.22 ERA, 27.3% K%, 2.97 FIP) and raw stuff, suggests he might be worthy of day one consideration.Segura’s fastball would be more accurately described as a hard cutter, which gets 3-4 inches of seam-shifted wake cut when he executes it properly. Similarly, his sinker gets huge SSW depth when he executes that pitch properly, which you can see in the bottom-right cluster of pitches. Then there are the rest of his fastballs, which cluster in the “dead zone.”Segura’s splitter is already plus, diving off the table with huge depth. Unsurprisingly, it’s also a SSW monster of a pitch. Not to be outdone, the sweeper gets about six inches of lift and five inches of sweep from seam effects, and projects as another plus-or-better pitch. Adding a gyro slider or bridge cutter would add an extra wrinkle that might help this profile get a boost. There’s a lot of upside hiding under the hood here, and it will be instructive to see which team grabs him.Sox love a guy with extension who can cut a fastball Edited 57 minutes ago57 min by Autumn Dreamin

51 minutes ago51 min OK, so maybe I am missing something, but shouldn't the Sox still have a fair amount of space for some HS picks, either in the next couple of rounds, or after round 10? I don't think the college kids are going over slot, and I can't imagine Thome going over either, so we should still have the extra money, right?
41 minutes ago41 min Brewers get Strosnider...seems like the perfect organization that can patiently develop him.Sox get there "insert directly into the playoff chase" reliever with a deadly slider...Getz will position that as their big deadline addition to the bullpen.

If you have Roch getting 10 million and everyone else getting slot, the Sox have about $4.3 million to work with which includes the 5% overage.I feel like Volchko might be getting over though. Maybe he's 1.5 million? I'm hoping some bonuses come out tonight via Twitter.

No reason to think they'd rush a 2026 pick over guys already on the 40.
