For someone who only really followed the top 3-4 guys for the draft, and select other players (Prosek), what is there to like/dislike about Thome? Other than the bloodline of course, I know nothing about him.

Once they add McDougal, there is literally no obvious short inning guys to replace unless it’s a material upgrade. The hard part is not knowing if the White Sox can hold first and/or the WC.

If they fade in the second half, there would obviously be no pressure to bring him up.

Why would it be a negative if the guy you just drafted could help the big league bullpen this year?

They still have lots of expendable slots on the 40 man roster on the pitching front.
