To me he has the highest upside of any starter they have.

Sure, but trusting him to stay healthy with the limited innings he’s had makes the reliever threat large.

This seems like an overreaction to a potential second loss in their last 8 games? Nothing about this team suggests that they are one loss or one injury away from losing their vibes.

Time to call up Sandlin. He hasn't been much better lately, but I have more confidence in him than Schultz.

Are you friggin kidding me. We need a starter asap and sandlin isnt a good solution

We sure do have a lot of stinkers coming off of good wins. Sign of a young team but also one that just doesnt' have a lot of depth in the pitching staff.

Say what?!?

Keep an open mind.

You can't let Schultz have any more starts. Send him down and see if he can figure anything out. It's clear as can be if the Sox are going to stay contending for a playoff spot this year they need another starter. Who you put in a package to get that I don't know. I'm in the camp of not mortgaging the future this year to contend.

My thing with McDougal is he's just never really pitched that well. Or that much! Last season was obviously hard to complain about but it still gave me a little pause with the way he sometimes walked guys too much (as he had in his earlier MiLB career). Seems like that's the same story in Charlotte so far with him walking a tightrope due to too many free passes. But it's not a big sample size there. The stuff is obviously quite good but I wonder whether his fastball gets beat up by major leaguers too much to get to his secondaries.

He has nothing to learn at AAA.

This is the big leagues and the Sox are in a playoff chase. He can go put up a 6 ERA in Charlotte for all we care. Get someone up here that gives us a chance in more than 1/3 their starts and won't tax the bullpen.

By the way, remember a few weeks ago when most of the online Sox fandom was trying to put Fedde on the waiver wire? I say don't look that gift horse in the mouth. Same goes for Noah, quite frankly. It's probably time to try the next option but we may well need him again before all is said and done.

Send him back to Arizona then. You can’t continue to run him out there to get pummeled

Haven’t seen us get an ass whoopin for a while. I do not like it.

29th percentile extension and a fastball sitting 93-94 (that he can't command) is unreal for a 6-10 guy in today's mechanical analytics environment. You almost hope he's hurt or something because WTF.

back to tied for first.

Yep.. I actually have more faith in Hagen figuring it out

He's never been an extension guy. And they dont want him to be either.

This is a minor thing because his defense has been so fantastic overall, but I'm still waiting for the "wow" throw from Braden. He has some weird metrics in that he averages over 90mph on his outfield throws but has also never thrown one faster than 93. Most guys who average that much have a peak in the high 90s or low 100s. We know he could run it up there in the high 90s off the mound and I believe he hit 100 in a showcase setting as an amateur. I have a suspicion that his arm hurts (maybe that's part of the reason he shut down the pitching dream in college).

When you watch his delivery, you don't see any explosion. Hopefully his knee is that sore that it's just messing him up.

How about effective MLB pitcher?: velocity, extension, spin. control -- he's 0 fer.

It’s not just the fact of him getting shelled but more that he’s burning out the bullpen for future games and giving the starters less wiggle room

I didn't say he needed to learn something. Maybe there is something he has to change with his delivery or whatever but he can't have any more starts pitching like this. Maybe you package him with someone to get another starter. I haven't been impressed with him since he came up so it wouldn't upset me at all.

Andrew Painter has a 7 ERA if it makes anyone feel better

To me it looks like he's protecting his shoulder. Really low release point from the OF.

they have 1 game per series now where they score 1 or 0 runs going back to at least Boston if not farther

From a good source, he gave up pitching because of knowing he’d be a high draft pick as an outfielder. No injury

Let's hope the Rangers scoring a ton of runs today affect them tomorrow too lol

This one is ovah
