When I saw him in high school, I was shocked at how bad teams were able to score against him. Talked to a coach this past weekend who faced him a few years ago and said Izzi was easily the better pitcher back then.

Shouldn't he in theory have the best extension in the game at that height...like Gio did?

Giolito had that significant differential from fb to change though.

That would make his fastball play up a notch or two.

Seems his delivery just isn't maximized for that, or simply puts too much torque/pressure on his knees.

Yeah hanging your breaking ball over and over again is not a recipe for success

Schultz has underwhelming stuff. I don’t know what it is about him but always seems very hittable

Schultz' ERA approaching 6 now, at some point, you have to adjust something staff wise.

Schultz just gives up too much contact.

Burger and Benintendi with similar offensive lines this year...both got off to slow/tough starts.

If the offense doesn't wake up it doesn't matter what Schultz does.

Call up Sandlin Noah needs a reset in the minors. Hard to see he was a top prospect stuff is bad.

Might just have to make a 4/5 vet trade and/or bring back a Civale/Flexen/Perez type.

To some extent, you're trading off two things — how far sideways you release it vs. how close to home you release it. It's not like an absolute tradeoff where you have to give up one completely to get the other, but the best extension guys are partly accomplishing that by releasing it later in the motion, i.e. straight out in front of you. But you can get some extension purely from the lower half and Noah is clearly not generating a lot from that...you can tell just from eyeballing what his legs do.
