Club better think they have a way to fix things otherwise I don't see this being that attractive. I don't mind those names being dangled (although I think Boston Smith is going to keep rising).
1 hour ago1 hr Gross, as Peralta has been terrible this year. I do think Wolkow and Smith are two of the most likely trade chips they use.

1 hour ago1 hr 3 minutes ago, Quin said:Dislike re: Boston SmithYeah I'd hate to trade a catcher that's raking for a rental having a bad year like Peralta. I guess the good thing about Peralta is that he's only making $8 mil this year so he's cheap.
1 hour ago1 hr 4 minutes ago, Quin said:Dislike re: Boston SmithYup, if they're going to trade him (I hope not), hopefully it's not for a rental. I'd think that Wolkow, Mogollon, DePino, Lodise types would be enough for mediocre rentals even in this market.
1 hour ago1 hr 9 minutes ago, Quin said:Dislike re: Boston SmithSame. Trading any prospect is going to sting, but that guy has done nothing but rake at every level in his professional debut.

1 hour ago1 hr Emotionally, I don't really want to part with Wolkow cuz he's a local guy that seems to be progressing. Obviously, he's expendable. Intellectually, I'm more attached to Boston Smith. Tearing up the Southern League is usually a very good sign. Semien was SL MVP and the Sox never really believed he was a top level prospect. That led to one of the more disappointing trades of the KW/Hahn era.

I also am a huge Boston Smith stan and may not be rational this matter. But f***, we finally have a legitimate rumor/leak which is fun!
53 minutes ago53 min This isn't that big of a price. It's two guys outside of the org's top 10 in a middle tier system.

In my last Top 20 list I had George four spots higher than Boston, but that’s entirely due to a ceiling that is unlikely to be achieved. And normally, it feels like Boston has a higher ceiling than many realize given his athleticism and a swing that maximizes his raw power. If he can stick at catcher in some capacity, he could be a valuable long-term piece.

Could be the Mets asked for that package and the Sox said no. Given we’re three days out from the deadline, it’s more likely the Mets are clinging to a high asking price before caving Sunday or Monday.
