MLB prices continue to be so weird but the main thing seems to be a huge discrepancy in costs for trading under 30, 'successful' position players v. pitchers, and also the huge value for position player prospects vs. pitching prospects.

The rebuilt just fine, but when the time came to go from Point B to Point C, they turned into cowards instead of taking the risks they needed to win in the AL East.

They've had their share of disappointments/underperformance/busts from their presumed core too. Holliday looking like a big leaguer but perhaps not yet even clearly better than the likes of Chase Meidroth. Gunnar has shown MVP talent but I know they're getting nervous over there about whether he has regressed. Coby Mayo not an everyday player anymore. Cowser a marginal player. Kjerstad complete bust. Westburg looked solid but always hurt. Grayson Rodriguez never got it together. Mountcastle just a guy. Adley is hard to complain about but an injury and a little bit of a slide on offense knocked him off the Hall of Fame highway.

Of course, some of that should have been expected and that's why you try to keep piling on and patching holes, which their management was always afraid to do. Traded a couple guys for Trevor Rogers, that was about as far as they went. And Rogers has been a rollercoaster ride for them. Started throwing a little money around as the ship was sinking.

I think it’s much easier and dependable way to build a steady contender by having a bunch of good youngish position players, than the hopes and prayers a young pitching staff tends to be.

Position players need to figure it out at the big league level, pitchers need to do that and also hope their elbow doesn’t explode in the middle of it.

Henderson slide the biggest obvious concern to Os insiders.

Yeah I'm not writing off Basallo, he looks okay and is so young. I kinda see him as part of the "new Orioles" and not the core that was going to take them to the promised land.

See Pirates...J.Jones injury, B.Chandler has been a bit disappointing, Skenes a big time injury risk, etc.

Red Sox have to resign Adley or this was fucking retarded. They also must believe they can get to the World Series.

If they can get Crochet back and keep playing hot… I suppose I understand why they’re pushing this hard.
