Is It Time To Call Up Bonemer?

Why not? The time to do it is in the minors.

I guess...but much more likely to happen in the AFL. Should be only about 7-10 days left to go in the season.

Trying to choose which spot to replace between LF 2B and Peters/Doyle at this point is beyond tricky.

Not happening. Sounds fun but don't see where he plays everyday. Also, rushing him to the majors in a season he started in A+ in the middle of a playoff race sounds like a great way to f*** up his dev

I met him once at batting cages in Bartlett around 2008, he was showing off his bat benches(which were very cool and I think he has put a few of them around the park) and when he shook my hand, all I

Why would they push him into CF instead of an easier position like LF where he could focus more on his hitting?

Left field is where you stash people that have little value at premium positions. CF is a premium position. Left field is a waste of his talent talent/value. You trade him before you play him in left field. Or, you trade someone else on the infield.

If Getz is serious about winning this division, Bonemer is on this roster in September instead of a AAAA player.

As much as I’m intrigued by the decision, how is this just now (last two weeks) becoming an option?

Act of desperation…

When’s the last time the Sox brought up a “savior” offensive prospect in the final month of the season and threw him right into the fire?

Who gets benched?

Maybe Getz is starting to realize his entire trade deadline was a bust?

Sure but during AFL and into the off season...except everything's going to be frozen in terms of major trades with the lockout one month after the WS.

Castillo, Urquidy and Brazoban were the best they could do? And Doyle? A golden chance to win a Division championship seems like it may be evaporating before our eyes - that would be a sad ending for one of the best White Sox seasons in a long while.

you might be right. I didn't mind their deadline, but in hindsight, for me at least, it's a deadline that says "We're the Dodgers or Phillies or Yankees", not "We're the White Sox". The White Sox haven't established they are a playoff team yet. They needed larger upgrades. With that stated, Getz may have just wanted to hold onto as many top guys as he could to get another year of "what do we have". Or, because he knew the lockout was coming and he was ordered by ownership to keep payroll as lean as possible while considering Mune was getting an extension.

Vargas’ future is equally important, but it doesn’t by definition have to be decided in 2027.

Vargas is the better player, but Mune brings the prestige

9-11 since the trade deadline. Sox are lucky the Guardians are 9-10 in the same stretch, but have just improved their play recently.

I don’t think Bonemer would be any sort of savior but they are going to have to play better than this to hold off the Guardians.

Well, @Y2Jimmy0, you did say on the FutureSox pod that once Bonemer gets that outfield glove we should be ready for a call up...

Wow, glad to hear the possibilities for Bonemer.

I mean I'm sure they talked about it. I just assume they didn't envision him actually forcing the issue in 2026

It will be interesting to see how Bonemer picks up playing CF. I heard he is very positive about the move. 2027 late season call up ?

Don't think he has the speed to be a plus defender in center. Maybe he gets really good jumps. Guess we'll see.

Supposedly he shocked with huge home to first times in the futures game, so maybe that changed their minds.

I am sure he is smart enough to realize if he can't pitch or catch, the quickest way to Sox Park is center field.

This is why you draft shortstops. If you need to move them to a different position it is a lot easier to do. HS SS are almost always the most athletic player on the team. If he can play a league average CF that would be awesome.
