1 hour ago1 hr I haven't looked into what Reds fans think of their team's deadline but I assume they weren't happy. They had quite a few pending FA who many felt would find a buyer and they traded just one of them (Lowe). So my view is that their management is probably operating with a different logic than the rest of the league. I assume to some extent, both sides wanted to make a point about what exactly the value of an okay player for 2 months should be.

Also sucks to be going through this right now down the stretch.I go back to something Len Kasper said earlier in the season about how every season is different...you will never have this situation again. How about going for it a little bit?
1 hour ago1 hr I see Davis saying he has a blister. I'd say that thing might need 15 days to recover!

1 hour ago1 hr Historically it seems the Sox always seem to be short in a vital area and it always seems to bite them in the ass.In the early 90's it was another good hitter for the lineup behind Thomas and Ventura. The players, like McDowell told me, though McGuire was coming, but then Frank wouldn't move to DH and that went out the window. In 96 it was a bad bullpen and the Sox did nothing at the deadline which saw them blow an almost certain wild card spot. Then in the early 2000's, 2003 comes to mind, it was the lack of a decent backend starter. I still remember Kenny Williams saying the price for Kenny Rogers was "too high." Rogers went to the Twins and helped them win the division. In 2020 as mentioned it was little starting pitching. As other have said it seems to be happening again. Edited 1 hour ago1 hr by Lip Man 1

1 hour ago1 hr Kolson, 0 for 5, heading down to the Mendoza line and his OPS is sinking too. My guess is the Sox will be looking for an alternative at shortstop next year.
1 hour ago1 hr Can you imagine how evil you must think Davis is for him to say "I'm not trying to hit you" one pitch, then believe he was lying when it happens the pitch afterwards

1 hour ago1 hr Another winnable game that was thrown away early by questionable decisions with the staff.
1 hour ago1 hr I don't know if it would have changed the ultimate outcome of the game, but the umps affected the game by that ejection.

55 minutes ago55 min A lot of things are taking place at exactly the wrong time of the season, pitchers hitting their limits, bad weather, a lot of extra inning games and what sure seems to be a lack of starting pitching that wasn't really addressed at the deadline. Not a good combination. 52 minutes ago52 min Realize what matters is what happens on the field but the Athletics daily baseball newsletter "the windup" projected the last six weeks of the season today. They have Detroit winning the division, the Sox not making the playoffs and the Cubs winning theirs.

To be fair though he's still a young player.would be amazing if he turned out to be Adam Dunn. Dunn was an All Star for the White Sox. His injury down the stretch of 2012 is one of the reasons we didn't make the playoffs. If I recall, he could barely swing a bat without pain.

He needs to emulate Mune who will go with the pitch with opposite field hits and HRs. That’s probably why they sent him to AZ last year but he forgot most of what they worked with him on.
