To be fair, I could have sworn I read at least one post here on Soxtalk that made that same suggestion.

I don't understand why they are so puffy chested. Their team played like s%*# all year so much that they traded their best pitcher.

Well, it's simple. They're stupid.

Bull-Pen. It’s been the backbone to our success.

Back to back homers from Rengifo and old friend Gavin Sheeets. Padres up 2-0 quickly on Cleveland

Twins lose.

Twins swept...great weekend

The day gets better and better!

Burke has his first bad game in a month and somehow these guys still find a way.

Very impressive.

You can't ask for anything more from them under the circumstances this weekend.

Now don't get swept at Wrigley, at least win a game.

Weird, this 37th season ending spiral of regression back to the basement looks different than I expected so far? Somehow despite not being able to hit or pitch or manage, your first place Chicago White Sox are a season high 5.5 games up (pending CLE) and back at their high water mark of 7 over .500.

First team to sweep the Tigers since May, when the Sox swept them the first time. They need just 1 win from the 4 game set at the Rate next month to clinch the season series.

If the Sox go 20-19 in their remaining games, the other ALC teams would have to go around 25-13 to match it.

Sox leading all of the tiebreakers and those teams having to play each other a few times still adds some insurance too.

Fangraphs Playoff odds:

Red Sox 93.3%

Sox 63.5%

lol

CBS has the Sox at 81.8%to make the postseason and 69.7% to win the division.

if the playoffs started tomorrow, the rays and sox get a bye, Astros vs Red Sox, Yankees vs Rangers

if: Astros win, Rangers win

Rays vs Rangers, Sox vs Astros 😭

if: Astros win, Yankees win

Rays vs Astros, Sox vs Yankees 😭

if: BoSox win, Rangers win

Rays vs Rangers, Sox vs BoSox 😭

if: BoSox win, Yankees win

Rays vs BoSox, Sox vs Yankees 😭

Sox would have a tough 1st round no matter how it breaks down (correct me if I'm wrong here)

Incorrect.

Rays 1 seed, face the winner of 4 vs 5, Yankees vs red Sox

Sox 2 seed, face winner of 3 vs 6, Astros vs Rangers

The 2 seed is the best spot to be in and the Sox are tracking to be exactly that.

thanks, I thought it was based purely off best vs worst record

is the home/away team based on season h2h matchup or overall record? guessing it goes record first? or is it based on seeding?

I don’t think that is correct. It’s a true bracket. Top seed plays the 4/5 winner. Two seed plays the 3/6 winner. The East is probably going to have 1/4/5 because division winners get the top 3 seeds. Thus the East will be have a bloodbath on their side of the bracket. That’s why winning the 2 seed is imperative. Get the bye then get the winner of Houston/Texas/Minnesota/Detroit/Cleveland/Toronto/whoever and only have to beat one of the three eastern division teams in the ALCS.

Seeding.

Divisions winners are seeded 1,2,3.

Wild cards 4,5,6

If sox are 2 seed they would have home field in ALDS.

If they advance and face the 4 or 5 seed in ALCS, they would again have homefield

Pretty sure it’s based on seeding. There is a scenario that isn’t that far fetched where the Sox have home field in the ALCS.

I think rangers is who they want, the rest are gonna suck no matter what

I’m ashamed of myself and other fans for starting to buy into it and go into that series against a sub-.500 team intimidated. “Ohh, we can’t even beat the reds, what are we gonna do against the mighty Tigers?” They practically have the SAME RECORD ffs
