Yeah, the abrupt exit felt like it could be something like this. I wonder if Getz has his guy in mind, or they just ratchet everyone up a notch.

Yeah, the timing says something is up. This too shall pass.

Will Getz be interviewing any of the Sox Talk posters ?

Nobody has ever heard of him

Well, maybe your first step to understanding the economics 9f the modern draft should be to know who the director of amateur scouting is... well was.

I do not know the details or how many infractions occurred but if HR had to get involved it was serious.

This is one of those, it should be zero, situations. One gets you unemployed.

it probably wasn't taking office supplies home or not being logged into your computer at start time. )

I will be tuned into to Jimmy & Ian's Future Sox podcast to see what they have to say.

Wrong thread. D’oh!

He has WBWF's resume presumably.

Ray Ray has disappeared...must be taking a board mental health break.

Nobody's suggesting Hostetler. Garrett Guest is the Asst. Director.

I wouldn't be surprised if Guest gets promoted to acting Director for now.

Apparently the Area Code games is the recent behavior example.

"In 2022, he was investigated after a former employee left the club and flagged his behavior toward scouts from underrepresented groups. ***The tip was made to MLB and later passed on to the White Sox, whose investigation did not find any bias in his hiring practices or behavior."*** SHOCKING I say!!!

fyi Daraka Shaheed was one of those Sox minority scouts that were pushed out (2024) in recent years.

Daraka Shaheed

High Heat Consulting/ Marketing

Hercules, California

Not to mention the White Sox international scouting director, Marco Paddy, and KW ofc.

"However, the team has undergone significant front-office and scouting department restructuring under General Manager Chris Getz, which included parting ways with veteran international scouting executive Marco Paddy and letting go of multiple area scouts in the Dominican Republic."

Well, they did hire 1 1/2 new scouts for Japan with Mune's arrival, lol.

Are you saying that Marco Paddy and Kenny Williams were fired because of their ethnicity and race?

Speculation of a split between scouting (Shirleys camp) who wanted Emerson and the higher ups who wanted Roch.

Typical Sox I guess. What’s a matter with this team

Doesn't seem like it's because he didn't take your pet draft pick

It’s so crazy that some people can’t keep their toxic personalities in check at work and focus on business. That being said, he sure fooled me with his media appearance.

I mean you are right, but it is also pretty funny to see the fragility around it.

It's also interesting if he ever wore that hat while representing the Sox outside of their own facilities...like the Area Code Games, and whether anyone ever spoke to him about it and how it made others feel.

We can talk about free speech until blue in the face, but not when it collides with a pro sports franchise worth billions and its organizational perception...there are limits to what anyone under the owner's box can get away with, especially since 2015, but also Me Too/Epstein.

Heck limits on billionaires now too.

That's just the cold hard reality.

It's also why the owners would prefer AI and data centers to replace human scouting as much as possible without being sanctioned by MLB NYC HQ.

Man, you're making me nostalgic. The good old days. Back when boys could be boys.

I guess even going into a Hooters Restaurant would get you in trouble with someone these days...at one point, they even had an airline.

Interestingly enough, Vietnam has an airline where flight attendants wear bikini tops, run by a female CEO.

Guess it's just select promotional flights and not on a daily basis.

I have 4 young kids and rarely get alone time. Last December I left work and went to Hooters by myself, then took an edible and saw Kill Bill vol 1 and 2 back to back in theaters. That was true happiness.

Garret Guest was the other finalist for the job when Shirley got promoted, so I could see it being him. Just not sure if he can handle that level of responsibility given the he commits to pushing Jeep Wranglers and hyping up Kelenic on Soxtalk.

Harold wasn't Garrett Guest. Also, sounds like external candidates are lining up for this job.

Was that the rumor - that was actually him?

No.

Daraka was a longtime Kenny Williams guy but he worked on the pro side. Nothing to do with Mike Shirley.

Reached out to an individual who has been around baseball for a long time and knows people and the scouting departments of a lot of teams.

Just wanted to know if they could shed any light on this. This is what they replied to me:

"I’ve never spoken directly to Mike Shirley. However, I can tell you that I got tired of hearing him say, “I’ve been in this game a long time” after every draft conference call.

A couple scouts from other organizations tell me there was a lot of bickering between Shirley and his own scouts who felt unappreciated. Shirley certainly felt comfortable drafting guys from the Midwest, but I thought he did well.

The Athletic story says he was badmouthing staffers at the Area Code Games. That is one of the worst places to keep anything a secret. Every amateur and pro scout/rep is there, as well as agents and parents.

I don’t know any specifics in regards to harassment or discrimination, but I know of one female staffer who came from another organization but left after only one year.

I’m curious to see who takes his place. Keep an eye on pro scouting. There might be some changes/trimmings there."

Leave It To Beaver, 1950s, interstate highways, color tv eventually, Eisenhower, Dennis the Menace and Mr. Ed.

1974 actually

ranks up there with Schoolhouse Rock and This Week in Baseball intro theme song with Mel Allen

Schoolhouse Rock is available on Disney+. Fun stuff watching those again.

As far as TWIB goes, the intro is fine, but give me the closing credits theme.

Isn't pro/advance scouting already less than five???

Didn't we just have a graphic recently...that the Braves somehow had zero, but it was actually at least 1.
