That's a big problem. I'm not sure there was much talent to develop. Pitching evaluation that has been less than exemplary; and this weird insistence on goofy deliveries.
And no talent signed on the international front.

They’ve used plenty of resources on pitching prospects. The results from Bannister have been very disappointing.

The reality is the playoffs have already started for the Sox. They have to play and manage all 9 of these just like that is the case. And if they do make the playoffs having to play with that pressure

It would help if they could actually keep these pitchers healthy and if not, at least get their rehab right so they don't suffer as many "setbacks"...

He’s clearly blocked and will never play SS for the Sox unless Bonemer and Cholowsky are busts and in that case you have a whole other issue on your hand

you don't trade a prospect at his absolute lowest value, Billy had a meh year and was hurt multiple times

Teel's game calling needs a lot more scrutiny by the coaching staff, hell just bring back Romo and get rid of Jake Rogers after this tigers series

one thing I do find at least slightly pleasing is how much criticism Getz is getting and will continue to get after the season ends for building one of the worst pitching staff in years, and also throwing 10s of millions of dollars at bad players who actively made your team worse

but how well have they used those resources? Is Hagen Smith really Bannister's fault?
Whose fault was using 3.5 rounds of a 5 round draft for Kelley. (finally released in August). Bad development or bad pick?

No word about Peters yet is definitely bad news.

We have word he's day to day.

Seems he’s in love with the 2 strike high fastball

Losing arguably the heart of this team for the rest of the season would be very bad

Looks to me like we've seen the last of Luis Castillo this year. I actually thought they might bring him into the game tonight out of the bullpen. Wouldn't it of made sense to bring him in tonight? The bullpen pitchers are tired and look burned out. The only reliever we have left for tomorrow is Taylor. By pitching Castillo tonight he could not have done worse than what the other bullpen pitchers did tonight. Plus it would have given them a day of rest.

I think they said he's day to day, that would mean no serious injury, guess he also passed concussion protocol

This is where even a bad Castillo should have been able to give you 6 innings, 4 runs. Instead, he’s just wasting a roster spot.

I was telling my kids something this as we drove home from the game and I was ridiculing Getz & Venable. Feels like instead of burning your entire tired bullpen in one game, you could have used your main trade deadline addition to get you five innings. But nope, he’s so bad he wasn’t even an option tonight to protect a depleted bullpen.

So tomorrow, you basically have Schultz and Castillo as your relievers. I’d imagine no Newcomb, Hudson, Hagen or Hicks. Please rain

This team overachieving and then achieving nothing noteworthy at the end would be so disappointing. Especially because they collapsed so badly in September. The AL is as weak as ever. 82 wins probably gets you a wild card spot. Not even getting that when you entered September with 70+ wins is an absolute disaster. I don't care what the preseason expectations are. When you collapse that badly at the end, it's hard to look at a season fondly.

ONLY IF YOUR FANS ARE CONDITIONED TO LOSING

Yeah the season is over
