nitetrain8601
F that. Contreras won't revert back to form. Contreras has the stuff, he's figured out how to pitch, he has a great catcher calling his game. And for god's sake, he's not 60 or even 40. And f*** Omar Vizquel. Contreras is our only sure thing this year in terms of pitching. The rest are not, yes that includes the prodigy that is Mark Buehrle. Deal BMac. Plus Conteras is pretty cheap for the way he plays. The Sox are in the business of trying to win the World Series again, not just making the playoffs. Without Contreras, there is no shot of a World Series. zygoat
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) I'm with you, I know some of you will laugh at this trade but that's because you're all dumbass meatheads. Think about it, remember the days when Contreras was on the Yankees? He sucked, I mean he was real bad, that Contreras will soon be back no matter what he's doing now. Why not move him now and get something for him before he reverts back to his sucky ways? Steve Kline is a stud, plain and simple, this one time when he was on the Cardinals I saw him strike out 2 batters in 1 innning, how pitchers have you seen do that? With Steve Kline comming out of the pen with his fire and crazy awesome heat (98 MPH fastball) the Sox would be totally unstoppable. Uribe blows ass, plain and simple. I havn't seen him get a single hit all year and the guy strikes out more than Adam Dunn but you never hear about it because the Chicago Media is always putting a positive spin on the Sox and ignoring the fact that Uribe is probably the worst SS in baseball right now. Also, have you seen this guy play defense? He's crazy out there, way too erratic for my taste. Omar Vizquel is easily the best defensive SS in baseball and has a ridiculously high OBP something this team needs desperately. Vizquel's sick combination of contact hitting, power, speed and OBP would put this team over the top while soidifying the defense. A lot of you unintelligent people will probably think this is a bad idea because of your ridiculously pathetic and misguided love for that 60 year old Cuban guy and Juan "teh suck" Uribe but take it from someone who is much much smarter than you are, this trade would gaurantee a return to the World Series and I think we all know there ain't a damn team in the NL who can hang with us. I do NOT agree wiht this trade. Omar Vizquel is the best defensive SS in baseball, but he is getting extremely old (been in the league 18 years) and i dont know much about Steve Kline, but this trade wouldnt make much sense. We would lose our number 1 starter at the moment (won 15 straight apperances and still going) and uribe who can flash the leather but couldnt hit a softball. If we did trade contrases, we wouldnt have the depth in our starting rotation and we would lose a bullpen man in Brandon McCarthy. I like knowing that if one of our starters go down, that we can back them up with BMac, and not be going down to get Charlie Hagar again. Those are my thoughts

DBAHO
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 01:38 AM) Ive seen that Reds fans are calling for a trade for Sean Tracey. I say let em have Tracey. Sean Tracey for Ryan Wagner. What do people think about that?
beautox
Isn't Wagner an injury risk? i know hes college polished and at one point people thought he was going to be an elite closer. I'm torn on this one, Tracey is the rare breed of high GB/K, but from what i've read with regards to Wagner he has a nasty slider. I guess if the organization is down on Tracey and he isn't going to be getting another shot with the sox and the Reds are truly intrestead then yeah, i would be cool with it. I would love to see what Don Cooper could do with Wagner. He falls into the good stuff, not much control type of pitcher right now, which the Sox seem to like. Personally, while Ozzie is still here, I can't see a long - term future for Sean Tracey on this ballclub. And that's not really fair for the kid, but what's happened has happened, and I think if the right move came along to improve this ballclub potentially, KW would have no problem including Tracey in a deal. Yeah, i think Tracey is in the dog house, and even though i would love to see him develop and reach his full potential with the white sox, it appears now that won't happen. From the accounts I've read about Wagner, his probelm is that he falls behind in the account using his Slider in attempt to get ahead instead of his 2 seam fastball, and then they just sit on his fastball. His slider is his out pitch. Honestly im pretty open to this idea. Also what ever happened to Eduardo Sierra? I know we claimed him off of waivers from the Colorado Rockies. Maybe he could become Jenks 2.0, it looks like his problems down on the farm is all control, I think if Coop got to work with him for a while he might live up to his potential, he has the "stuff". When it comes to fringe prospects, I have no problem trading a guy for a guy with an awesome arm.
beautox
Some more about Ryan Wagner compliments of Josh Boyd from www.baseballamerica.com "Strengths: Wagner’s 84-87 mph slider is downright unhittable and grades as a top-of-the-scouting-scale 80 pitch at times. It features sharp, late tilt in the zone and darts away from the barrel of the bat. Hitters have a difficult time identifying his slider, and often think it’s a splitter or true curveball because of its depth. Wagner isn’t a one-trick pony, however. His fastball sits at 91-94 mph and features hard sink and boring action to induce ground balls. His fastball movement is so good that hitters will have a tough time laying off his slider and sitting on his fastball. He showed enough resiliency and durability to work multiple-inning stints for Houston. Though he rarely needs it, Wagner shows a feel for an average changeup, leading some scouts to think he could hold down a rotation spot. Weaknesses: Not many scouts project Wagner as a starter because his delivery and arm action might not be conducive to a rotation workload. While he’ll drop his arm slot at times to create more movement on his fastball, that also causes additional stress on his shoulder—even more than when he relies heavily on his slider. The Reds would like him to become more consistent with his slot and repeating his delivery." If its true, and the reds are sincerely interested id love to see it happen. knightni
Another "awesome" idea courtesy of Mark Gonzalez' mailbag. I know Chris Singleton is in the booth, but he's only one year removed from playing and would be an improvement over Anderson. Start the rumor. --John Chen, Chicago Mark - You just started it.
