just discovered the Automatic Music Explosion - an UNBELIEVABLE LA band. They're first album hits later this year I think, and the live show......... oh my god.

anyway, they're on myspace.

new interpol album leaked if anybody's interested

I probably won't listen to it for a while though, seeing as I haven't even gotten around to antics yet

I heard their single awhile back. My ears started bleeding. It's overproduced garbage. f*** those sellouts.

Anyone loving Icky Thump as much as I am?

Yes, I prefer White with a guitar in his hands instead of him sitting on a piano stool.

Gave 'em a listen, wasn't blown away.

But speaking of Oh My God, has anyone here heard them? Local Chicago band - I think they're really good. Heavy, heavy keyboards in place of guitars, plus bass and drums. "Get Steady" is my favorite song by them.

They're playing Summerfest on the 4th of July on the Zippo stage, followed by The Last Vegas and Local H.

God damn!

Metal and Hardcore are really the only two genre's (they sound alike, anyway) that I just can't get into. Some metal is okay, like instrumental stuff. But when the vocalist comes on and screams this deep howl in my ear, I'm just like, "Jab an ice pick in my ear and maybe then it'll sound better."

Understandable.

It's not for everyone. For me it's about the guitars and the aggression - I basically tune out the vocals, or more specifically I treat the vocals as an instrument and I don't stress them.

There are differences between metal and hardcore, though - they can be subtle differences in some cases, and there are bands that crossover, but metal and hardcore are two distinct genres.

I'm not a White Stripes fan (aside from Seven Nations Army), so take that for what it's worth.

I've seen a lot of message board posts praising this song, so I decided to really try to give this an open-minded listen.

I liked the intro to the song. I thought maybe it was going to steer away from what I consider (from my admittedly limited exposure to them) the "typical" White Stripes sound.

But it really didn't, at least not away from the sound of the songs I've heard.

I guess the biggest problem I had with Icky Thump was that it never seemed to find a groove. It had a lot of jerky-sounding breaks in the song, which stopped whatever flow the song was picking up.

It's not a terrible song, but it's not a song I'd buy (or even download for free from the site I found the mp3 on, as it turns out).

I stumbled upon 'Headbangers's Ball' the other night. ( I didn't know that show was still around) I tried to be open minded and watched a few videos, but I just couldn't vibe. Like you said all the vocals sound the same and the instruments are just one big clusterf***.........and I like uptempo, agressive music.

My problem with The White Stripes is the drummer chick. I'm not a drummer, but I bet any below average drummer could fill in and do what she does.

Scrantonicity is pretty awesome.

They really are, but they never tour. To that I say dinkin' flicka.

I have to give the new Okkervil River album "The Stage Names" a thumbs down. But I'm open to changing that opinion because I haven't listened to it enough. I've hated all Okkervil River albums on the first few listens.

I was actually referring to the album as a whole, but I definitely agree with your assessment of the song.

Ohh, sorry, I didn't know that's what the album was called. The single is all I've heard.

I never thought I'd think this, but John Mayer's 'Gravity' is an amazing song, the rest of that record doesn't impress me.

i downloaded stage names. I haven't listened to a new album in a month and a half so...kinda excited.

New TI is f***ing awesome

i want to hear it. I heard bad things at first.

I have all of his albums on my ipod. The guy is an amazing guitarist and I like the blues basis of his most recent album.

Anyone a Velvet Revolver fan? Their new album leaked... pretty good.
