September 16, 200718 yr Congrats to Big Jim! Bottom of the 9th, in walk off fashion. Can't get much better than that.
September 16, 200718 yr The most dramatic 500th home run ever, by far. WALK OFF ARE YOU KIDDING ME. What a great way for a great guy to get such a milestone, congrats to Jim!!
September 16, 200718 yr Fan who caught it being interviewed now. He's an Oriole fan from Austin who just flew in today for an accounting conference). The package given to him for return of the ball was 2 season tickets for 2008(Which he, in turn, donated to Jim's charity), and box seats to a Cubs/Sox game next year. September 16, 200718 yr Author Great way to hit #500... Although it would've been nice if hadn't been on a Bears-game day when only 29K were in attendance. Last night 36,000 were there, and the atmosphere was more electric. And a White Sox fan didn't even catch the ball; it was a freakin Orioles fan. With that said.. Congrats Thome!
September 17, 200718 yr Even with all the bad stuff going on this year with this team, this makes me very happy. Couldn't have happened to a better guy. Congrats, Jim!
September 17, 200718 yr Congrats Jim!!! What an outstanding game to be at, despite the direction of the season.
September 17, 200718 yr Congrats Jim a true class act, 2007 1 last brightspot in the season from hell.
September 17, 200718 yr The MLB clip is awesome Hawk, walk-off before he would have had to do it on the raod. Wife Dad Jenks (how many closer's would've done that) and Dye carrying him off the field. Awesome.
September 17, 200718 yr Congrats to big Jim! Awesome way to do it. I so wish I could have been watching. I'll have to go see the videos on MLB. And pretty classy of that Baltimore fan, donating the season tickets instead of selling them later.
September 17, 200718 yr Congrats Thome. The walk-off homer for No 500 is proof nice guys do not have to finish last. Amazing. I read he's the only player whose 500th actually won a game. Hopefully he'll be one of the veterans to spark the team to a remarkable turnaround in the standings next season. Hope he gets some good pub in USA Today tomorrow. Oh wait ... the Yankees and Bosox are playing ... again.
September 17, 200718 yr Congrats Thome!! I'm glad I witnessed his 500th (and Hester's return ) before I went to work today. I must admit, I nearly teared up for a second there. Congrats Big Jim. I'm glad I saw it live and I'm glad I am a part of this thread.
September 17, 200718 yr Wow. How awesome for one of the greatest guys in all of professional sports to get his own "Natural" moment. That was one of the most incredible moments I have seen in pro-sports, and most of it had to do with who hit it. It was so cool to see every single one of his teammates wait around and give the guy a big bear hug and everything, instead of just the usual high-five and pat on the back. You couldn't have scripted a better Hollywood ending for Jim Thome.
