So after an hour or so rain delay the Nats bring Strasburg back after he pitched 2 innings. Do they just not even want to give him a chance to pitch in the post season? Jeez.

Awesome Around the Horn Triple Play turned by Oakland.

The more I read, it seems like Boras has turned Rizzo into his little puppet.

Johan Santana is 3-7 with an 8.27 ERA since he threw 134 pitches in his no-hitter. The Mets will shut him down for the season.

It seems like the norm for guys who throw no hitters or perfect games regress after it.

Stone mentioned this earlier that Jeter is 1,000 hits away from tying Rose. He's 38, and a few years ago looked like he was on a major decline, but now looks like he could play at an elite level for a few years to come.

I honesty hope he can get those hits. That would be truly amazing to see.

Jeter has to have complete 100% immunity from the PED policy, right? Even if he were somehow dumb/unlucky enough to test positive, that's one the commissioner sweeps under the rug without a second thought.

So the Brewers released Randy Wolf on his birthday.

Where's J4L to pimp out the Orioles?

A'sdrian?

And in his first 5 starts after the no-hitter, he was 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA, averaging 6 innings a start. In the next 5 starters, he's 0-5 with an ERA of 15.63, OPSa of 1.242, and fewer than 4 innings a start. In fact, in those 5 starts, his season ERA went from 2.76 to 4.85.

It wasn't the no-hitter that did it. It's simply a guy who hadn't thrown a meaningful pitch in about a year and a half coming back to pitch. The body will break down.

Amazing game between the Red Sox and Angels.

Trout continues to re-write the record books.

Good call. Think Jake Peavy 2011.

Exactly, I imagine he'll come back and be pretty solid next year. It would have been nice for them to let him throw a few more innings, but if it's going to hurt him, keep him the hell away from the mound.

I was setting my fantasy lineup for Sunday and noticed the Tampa Bay Rays don't play?

That's weird.

GOP convention? Not being held at the Trop, but that's the only explanation.

Yup, that's exactly why. They moved the series up a day, so they can get the heck out of Dodge before the convention. There is also a kickoff party at the Trop Sunday night.

Orioles too? I thought only the Jays

Anybody have any idea when the last time was that a Sunday did not have a full slate of games scheduled?

I mean before the season started, games rescheduled a few days in advance due to an impending hurricane don't count.

Heard on 35th street tonight from a higher up that Mike Scioscia is the guy the Red Sox want to replace Valentine with and the Angels may just let him go.

Jeff Kent will be competing on the tv show Survivor.

RT @Buster_ESPN Astros say they're open to having Clemens pitch for them at age 50, but not as a stunt

If he does come back to pitch. He would have played in 4 decades.

Depends on whether you count a human/synthetic testosterone hybrid as being the same as the person who pitched in the 80's.
