Hunger Games Finale: ‘Mockingjay’ To Be Split Into Two Films

The Lionsgate produced “Hunger Games” trilogy has determined that the finale known as “Mockingjay” will reportedly be split into two separate films. The film company hopes to give their audience more content in addition to cashing in on the book’s wildly popular story, according to MTV.

Following the lead of other successful franchises, “The Hunger Games” will be splitting their final book into a two-part series with the first film set to release November 21st, 2014. Repeating the actions of films such as “Twilight” and “Harry Potter, “Mockingjay” part two will then be released almost exactly one year later on November 20th, 2015.

According to Hollywood.com, the film’s producers have also determined that the movie based on Suzanne Collins second book in the series, “Catching Fire,” will have a release date of November 22nd, 2013.

Lionsgate also recently announced that the cast would be joined by Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymor Hoffman. The actor will be portraying the pivotal role of head game maker Plutarch Heavensbee and is a vital character in “Catching Fire” as well as “Mockingjay.”

The first “Hunger Games” film released in March has already earned $400 million domestically and seems to be only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the potential success of this prosperous trilogy

If you like unfulfilling endings, you'll love SAVAGES. Wasn't bad. Just felt more disappointed than pleased when walking out.

Hugh Laurie, Gary Oldman, Sam Jackson, Joel Kinnaman(RoboCop) are current cast

Yeah...maybe. I really liked the first 3/4th's of the film, but I like Del Toro more than most (definitely an acquired taste) and also a big fan on the novel, so that probably influenced me too much.

Watching Moonrise Kingdom, the Anderson movies blows anything out of the water that I've seen pretty much all year.

Then again, many people don't love Wes Anderson or Aronofsky, for example Acquired tastes.

That ending was freaky bizarre. I won't spoil it here, but I was simply stunned Stone went that route. I mean WTF? I liked the movie, tho.

Can you give me the Reader Digest version of the book? How was it different?

Saw Ted tonight.

Some great one-liners in that movie.

I enjoyed it.

I concur although I haven't seen too many new films. I particularly enjoyed the score in this one.

Saw Abe Lincoln today as my last movie on a vacation week.

Another decent movie IMO.

I enjoyed it.

Abe and the Vampires: 3.8 out of 5 stars.

Ted: 3.9 out of 5 stars.

Savages: 4 out of 5 stars if u take out the ending.

Technically a 2013 movie, but the first trailer for Oz: The Great and Powerful is out. Looks bad ass.

I took the wife to Wicked years ago, and that was incredible. If this is half as well written, it will be excellent.

With Sam Raimi directing, the chance of a great movie increase. I realize it's a Disney movie, but I hope they don't get to cutesy with it.

It's not just a Disney movie, but a kids movie, with an adult hook in that most adults grew up watching The Wizard of Oz. I believe this is a targeted G rating, so the question is how will Raimi deal with the constraints that brings?

The teaser didn't have much in it other than scenery and a few character teases...I'm trying to be hopeful for a solid story/movie, but I fear this movie will fall off the deep end of stupid like Burton's Alice did, where all he seemed to care about was wonky characters (for no reason), and the over-use of over saturated colors. I thought Alice was going to be amazing...it wasn't.

From what I've read it doesn't seem to be a kids movie. I could be wrong, but I hope I'm right. My guess is that it'll be a PG movie to really cash in on just about every audience.

Going to see SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED this afternoon.

Have heard lots of great things about it.

I liked it but don't think it was as great as other critics thought. Liked the ending.

Casa de mi Padre with Will Ferrell was just annoying after 20 minutes. I kept watching because I couldn't take my eyes off Genesis Rodriguez._Genesis-Rodriguez-b5cbde3a-98d9-102f-82

No interest. Lizard is lame and the new Peter Parker looks like a cocky douche rather than an awkward nerd.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I agree. He looks more hipster than nerd.

My wife and I were having a discussion last night. Is this movie based off any of the books, or is it pretty much entirely made up? As best as I can tell there is no specific book about the wizard's journey to Oz, but i wonder if they pulled pieces of backstory from the other books.

Yeah it cant be explained. They turned Mary Jane into plain Jane Dunst. Its the same with X-Men casting Rogue, who was supposed to be super hot (arguably hotter than Phoenix), yet she is played by Anna Pacquin, who is not nearly as attractive as Femke Janssen.

The worst case was when they cast Rosie O'Donnell as Betty Rubble in the Fred Flinstone movie back in the 90's. Totally ruined Betty for me (I had a crush on her as a little kid) and the producers should've gotten shot for that one.

Anna Pacquin was pretty damn hot. No, probably not as hot as Famke Janssen in short shorts, but she was very nice on the eyes.

I've heard good things about the new Spider Man...but I have my doubts...I liked Tobey McGuire as Parker/Spidy, and I give him a megaton of credit for the now successful comic hero to the big screen movement...so it kind of bothers me they already rebooted a great set of movies.

Spiderman was the first of the new comic movies that worked for mass audiences...and I think it was the catalyst for hollywood to green light all of these awesome comic movies we've been getting as of late.

So put me in the Tobey McGuire > new hipster peter parker camp.

Garfield played Peter Parker very well, he wasnt a hipster, or a nerd, but he was more of an outcast.

Lizard was anything but lame, his character was awesome

I hear she gets around. From Timberlake to...Brett Ratner, oy ve.

She was on Leno last night, what an awful person. Not funny, terrible stories, just seemed to be all looks with nothing else to offer. Her entire story was how guys keep dumping her.

Olivia Munn used to host a tech show on G4 and it was SOOOOO obvious she was there simply to be T&A... not that I minded.
