June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 07:22 PM) But the teams still have to pay it. IIRC it goes to some charity. Are you sure on this. I was thinking the teams did not have to pay and thought the charity thing was only for fines.
June 5, 201312 yr Author QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) While I think Braun getting off on a technicality is pretty weak last time around, I dont know if I agree with MLB deciding to ignore write the rules as they go and skip over the 50 game suspension and go straight to the 100 game suspension. MLB would be doing 2 simultaneous penalties, one for juicing and one for lying to investigators, not anything to do with the previous positive test, according to the article. Says they successfully did that with the minor leaguer.
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 07:53 PM) MLB would be doing 2 simultaneous penalties, one for juicing and one for lying to investigators, not anything to do with the previous positive test, according to the article. Says they successfully did that with the minor leaguer. I realize he has some records and such, but MLB is putting awful lot of stock into one man's testimony. I would think the MLB players union will be ready to jump all over him.
June 5, 201312 yr DLS, former Sox prospect. The history of foreign Sox prospects juicing continues. This doesn't necessarily mean he was juicing with them, but it's certainly interesting.
June 5, 201312 yr Hopefully no one with the Sox is included in the 20 or so players involved. Pretty obvious no Sox hitters are on anything.
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 02:26 AM) Pretty obvious no Sox hitters are on anything. I'll be honest, as long as Konerko and Sale aren't on the list, it wouldn't bug me that much if someone on Sox got in trouble.
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 07:28 PM) I'll be honest, as long as Konerko and Sale aren't on the list, it wouldn't bug me that much if someone on Sox got in trouble. Or Viciedo/Rios/DeAza...because we might be trading Alex or Alejandro.
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) I'll be honest, as long as Konerko and Sale aren't on the list, it wouldn't bug me that much if someone on Sox got in trouble. It would be highly amusing if Adam Dunn was on the list.
June 5, 201312 yr I just wonder if Braun's successful appeal made MLB go after this clinic harder, thus outing the other 19 players.
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 02:30 AM) It would be highly amusing if Adam Dunn was on the list. Well, that would end the controversy on whether or not PEDs makes you better at baseball
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 02:34 AM) I just wonder if Braun's successful appeal made MLB go after this clinic harder, thus outing the other 19 players. Absolutely
June 5, 201312 yr Listening to Barry Larkin rip on players for taking steroids while sitting at a table with the brother of Brett Boone was awkward
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) Listening to Barry Larkin rip on players for taking steroids while sitting at a table with the brother of Brett Boone was awkward His year-by-year stat line just reads like an advertisement for the steroid era.
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) Ton of Latin players on the list. Racist! Just kidding, thought that was interesting as well. Maybe a lot of these guys just live in the Miami area.
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 09:26 PM) Pretty obvious no Sox hitters are on anything. I don't know, do they test for quaaludes?
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 06:12 PM) YANKEES have to be VERY CLOSELY looking at ways out of that contract...surely, it will be settled in a courtroom. . I'm not usually one who revels in another's misfortunes, but this warms the cockles of my heart.
June 5, 201312 yr I'm beginning to feel like some ramifications should start happening to the teams. The Tigers reaped the benefits of Peralta last year. Brewers made money pff Braun's MVP
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 09:19 PM) I'm beginning to feel like some ramifications should start happening to the teams. The Tigers reaped the benefits of Peralta last year. Brewers made money pff Braun's MVP It would be more effective if they did that, but it would be hard to implement since the league represents the owners and it would probably punish the wrong party in many cases, even if sometimes they knowingly turn a blind eye.
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) It would be more effective if they did that, but it would be hard to implement since the league represents the owners and it would probably punish the wrong party in many cases, even if sometimes they knowingly turn a blind eye. You can argue that Peralta might have cost the White Sox MILLIONS of dollars (just from playoff revenue and season ticket renewals and not having to lower ticket packages)...and put the entire organization into a tailspin. It can be argued, but never proven.
June 5, 201312 yr QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 09:15 PM) I'm not usually one who revels in another's misfortunes, but this warms the cockles of my heart. f*** that. The last thing I want is the Yankees to not have to suffer through that disaster of a deal. I want it to hurt them for the next four years.

I want it to hurt them for the next four years. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id...cording-sources This is from the off-season when they said the Yankees were waiting for official action from MLB before going forth with trying to void the contract. Lawyers will get PAID, we know that much.
