Really like #chisox signing of abreu for $68M 6 yrs. Could be star. You cant get established MLB star for $11.3M per

Jose Abreu - 1B - White Sox Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies made a six-year, $63 million offer to Jose Abreu.

That fell just short of the winning White Sox bid, which was six years, $68 million -- the highest contract ever for an international free agent. Abreu, 26, is likely to take over as Chicago's starting first baseman in 2014.

Wasn't this the same dope who said no one else offered more than $50 million earlier freaking out some posters thinking the Sox must have overpaid?

He was probably being fed that information by the Rockies so that he could leak it in hopes that the Sox would decrease their offer.

This is an awesome article, not just because of the conclusion.

Yeah, that is great stuff.

Very detailed. I like the analysis, and looking at the gifs, I'd say Abreu has a great swing.

I'm thinking (and hoping) that in a year or so, many are going to look back and realize that Abreu at an average of $11 million a year is a bargain.

Abreu "essential for competing in the future" professional hitter, clean stroke.

BUT WHAT IS HIS DAMN NUMBER

kind of strange that De Aza has a seat saved for him

$10 mil bonus. Will make 7 mil in 2014.

So the other 5 years will be 51 mil.

Abreu gets $10-mil signing bonus and $7 mil in 2014 and 2015, $10 mil in 2016, $10.5 mil in 2017, $11.5 mil in 2018 and $12 mil in 2019.
