Seeing Derrick in these all star teams / national teams is just a bit awkward. He's not a great half court player, he's not a creative passer and court vision is only average, and there are better scorers on the team than he is.

You missed the point. My observation is his playing style is a bit of awkward fit for national team or all star teams.
