This bullpen is the result of a ridiculously weak farm. And there's nothing to bring in.

We're a long ways from 2012, when we used, what, 10 rookies from the pen alone and it seemingly worked for most of the year until September at least.

That's when we had the WORST farm system in baseball.

There was Leyson Septimo, Jhan Marinez (Ozzie comp), Pedro Hernandez (Quentin deal), Axelrod, Omogrosso, Heath, Hector Santiago, Nate Jones, Addison Reed...not to mention Quintana.

Let's blame it on Buddy Bell, just because....well, we have to have someone to scapegoat, and Hahn and his Toronto superscout aren't as fun to pick on at the moment.

Speaking of Toronto...Nestor Molina might be the next addition to the bullpen, if Zach Stewart's unavailable.

How does Putnam count?

Good call. Forgot where he came from.

I was around, but was a young 19yo pup in 07, does anyone remember what it was like in the 07 season?? Just looking at that bullpen, god god almighty.....Were people calling for Ozzies head back then?

Couple of hits yesterday, but you are correct, Beckham batting 2nd today clearly was the difference.

Oh, couple of hits makes batting him 2nd OK? He's batting what, .190 the past 2 months? It's an awful decision to have him bat 2nd, plain and simple. There's zero defense of it.

Waits for a "you never played in MLB and never managed so you must know more than Robin!" argument you trot out. Every. Single. Time.

That was when KW decided to just sign as many flame throwers as he can, if he could throw 95+ MPH, he was sitting in the Sox bullpen.

5 relievers pitched today. Each of them gave up at least 2 runs. 4 relievers gave up 3 or more runs.

Fire Ventura, the worst manager in the history of MLB.

Lets have the pen manage and Robin relief.

This man has got to go. He's absolutely destroyed the confidence of every member of our bullpen.

/facepalm

You realize the Twins hit the s*** out of every pitcher the Sox threw at them this weekend right? They even tagged Sale pretty good.

It takes a great manager to understand the genius of batting the worst hitter on the team 2nd.

He's trying to get him some better pitches to hit to increase his value so the Sox can trade him for a piece and get something for him rather than nothing.

Now it is Rick Hahn's or Kenny Williams's or Buddy Bell's fault. And also, Robin's fault.

I thought tonight's move to put Dunn in there for the 9th was a pretty aware move by Robin. You've got an entire pitching staff struggling at a level that almost defies comprehension (14 straight relievers giving up a run is nuts) and guys are worried about being sent down, getting edgy and playing nervous. I don't care if they deserve to be sent down or DFA'd or what, at this point it's obvious the Sox are flat out of options to replace people.

So you throw Dunn out there, get a few laughs, loosen things up and try and get these guys who whether we like it or not will be on this team the next 2 months to stop getting in their own heads. Of course it might not make any difference, bad is bad, but it's probably a pretty dour mood in the clubhouse and this hopefully livens it up.

Let's look at the Sox actual W-L under Robin versus their expected W-L using the pythagorean formula, and then compare it to Ozzie Guillen's record.

2012: Actual W-L 85-77. Expected 88-74. -3 games

2013: Actual 63-99. Expected 67-95. -4 games

2014: Actual 52-55. Expected 52-55. 0 games

Overall for Robin -7.

Here's Ozzie's record:

2011: +4

2010: +2

2009: -1

2008: 0

2007: +5

2006: +2

2005: +8

2004: -1

Overall for Ozzie, +19.

In the last six games, the Sox are 3-3 with a run differential of -24. By your calculations, that makes him one of the greatest managers ever, to pull off a .500 record out of such a Pythagoreanly horrible team.

Yes, because of being out scored 32-3 the last 2 games, the White Sox are now +2 from where they are supposed to be on the season using that formula.
