They don't have 2 of there best bullpen pitchers so it would be highly important to win tonight. The Sox also have Q, Danks, and Noesi pitching the next 3 so based on everyone's vibes it's doesn't look good for the next 3.

Q should bounce back. Danks has been stellar vs. KC, and Noesi pitched pretty well the other night. This is a sweep.

Royals fans have historically always been great fans with a high baseball IQ from what I seen. But winning can change all that. LOL

So what are Cubs fans excuse?

I really hope you are right. The Sox can get right back into the Division with a sweep. The Bats need to really come alive and stay alive.

When is the last time the Sox swept someone? The pitching matchups are sketchy. 2-2 seems most likely.

Royals fans are becoming as angsty as their douchebag team.

I've been enjoying watching and listening to their broadcast crew because you would think they had just won the last 3 world series. Not an inning goes by when they don't reference a moment from last season's remarkable run in the postseason. Makes for some laughably bad TV, especially when they try to defend the actions of Herrera.

I would gladly take a series split.

I'll take a split. But, at home, I think we have to take 3 of 4.

4 game set already with a 2 game set already in Cle? Oh well, at least they aren't playing inter league in April this year like some teams.

I think the Royals are a mediocre team that had a hot start. On paper, the Sox have just as much talent, maybe you can say the ridiculous pen KC has is some magic elixir but in a rare moment of agreeance with Dick Allen I will say -- this team got lucky to make the playoffs and they are acting like the 27 Yankees, fans included. The Sox matchup well on paper let's see how it goes.

They are not mediocre. Their defense alone means they are in almost every game. Their hitters really have been digging in and teeing off after swinging from their heels. Hopefully Sale sets the tone and won't allow that to happen.

Are you kidding or trolling? A sweep? I'm worried about KC going 7-0 vs the Sox on the season. I truly don't think the Sox recover from that. If Sale loses tonight, talk of the sweep would already be rampant. KC is cocky right now and doesn't think it can be beat.

Half the game is hitting anyway and none of the Royals' starters, Volquez' hot start and imminent pumpkin transofrmation notwithstanding, is setting the world on fire. I can see any result really, it just depends on if the Sox decide they want to score some runs this weekend.

Yes, but you're worried about almost everything. Daily.

Here's the lineup. Standard once more.

#WhiteSox lineup 4/23: Eaton 8, Cabrera 7, Abreu 3, LaRoche DH, Garcia 9, Gillaspie 5, Ramirez 6, Flowers 2, Johnson 4. Sale v. Ventura.

Reason why tonight's a bigger game than usual to me is the Sox need to show KC they can compete with them this year, and with Sale on the mound, no better time than the present.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 03:17 PM)
The Tigers just got swept and the Sox can get within 3.5 games of 1st with a win tonight. This is another big series for the central. With Sale on the mound it's critical to take this first one and at least get 2/3 here. The Royals are a bit of a mess after the Oakland series now is a great time to go for a sweep.

It's way too early to be stressed this much. You are going to have a CVA before the All-star break.

The Sox just haven't been consistent enough in producing runs for me to be excited yet. That's why I am looking at pitching. Sale can shut down most offenses and give us a QS. Ventura isn't really ace material if you ask me but if they tack on some early runs, I could see Sale shutting down KC's offense. I do not feel the same about the other pitchers; you give them run support, they may very well give it back.

We know Sale will win the opener. After that it is a 3 game series.

The fact that we have penciled in Sale winning the opener worries me.

Can't wait to watch this game on Cozi TV or whatever.

Do they broadcast in hi def? I'm only half joking.

No, 'Cozi TV' broadcasts in Standard Def Widescreen. But they can't seem to get the 'Widescreen' part correct. The network and the local affiliate (WMAQ-TV Channel 5-2) both broadcast in 'Widescreen', but for some reason the station locally always has black bars at the left and right sides of the screen which isn't correct.

'Cozi TV' is available on Comcast channel 341, and for free over-the-air on WMAQ-TV Channel 5-2. Other cable / satellite viewers who receive 'CSN Plus 2' on a different alternate channel, might be able to get the game in High Def. Here are the channels where the game can be found:

http://www.csnchicago.com/channel-finder

Another thing, the game starts at 7:10 PM CDT--not CST. CDT (Central Daylight Time) began in March, which is when CST (Central Standard Time) ended.

The same error was made in yesterday's game thread and the Sox won the game, so the error needs to remain in the thread for today's game.

LOL! Superstitious

By the way, I called WMAQ-TV today and spoke to their engineering department. The black bars problem on the left and right side of the screen was corrected today between 1PM-2PM. For now on, the bars on the sides will only appear when they are supposed to, and not when the source is sending a 16 X 9 production to the station. Charlie's Angels will no longer have any black bars on the sides and the beginning/ending credits will not be trimmed off. The previous problem would not have effected the Sox telecast tonite anyways because the game is not getting sent to the station from the same satellite.

With Sale, I use pen not pencil. He is 5-0 in March/April the last 2 years.

You are determined to jinx him, eh?

Tonight is pivotal for this team. Set the tone early with some runs and let Chris sail to victory.

Is/will be the biggest game of the first 25% of the season imo.

Wouldn't go that far but it's def a big game. It's an opportunity to make up some of the ground lost in the first week.

Wouldn't be surprised if this turns into a 3-game series. Saturday looks raw.
