2016 MLB Draft

Featured Replies

So we have seen and heard about the Sox linked to OF Blake Rutherford and Corey Ray ( for obvious reasons) so far. Also linked to Wisconsin Prep SS Gavin Lux and Georgia RHP Robert Tyler. Has anyone seen anything else?

Collins according to law.

Draft will be 2 weeks from Thursday. Is there a legit possibility that Ray falls to 10? Would be a cool story if he did.

I don't think he gets past the Brewers at #5 honestly.

Who was the last player to originate in the Chicago Public League and be taken Top 5?

Jeffrey Jackson by the Phillies?

I thought it was impossible for Rodon to fall to 3, and that happened. MLB draft is weird.

I wouldn't really call #3 overall "falling."

Ehh. I think I would when you consider he was the slam dunk #1 pick for so long and even leading up the draft I feel like we were all getting used to the idea of Tyler Kolek or Aaron Nola.

Chris Sale falling where he did was the real shocker.

I think it's Chris Sale if he's still there. I would like it too.

And if that happens, he's winning the 2016 Cy Young Award in a White Sox uniform....YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I agree, fan bases were calling the #1 pick the #roadtorodon he likely suffered from draft fatigue where everyone and their mom knew he was going to go #1 overall that the astros just had to be contrarians.

Moniak

Senzel

Ray

Rutherford

Lewis

Give me any 1 of those 5 at 10 and I'll be very happy.

I kinda like the idea of Burdi from Louisville with the comp pick. Big fastball as a college reliever but has the secondary pitches to think he could develop as a starter...if not could contribute early as a reliever.

Ha! Apparently I really wanted Grandal. I think that was the first year I really started following the draft. Now I love this s***.

That was a pretty loaded draft, wow.

New mock:

10. OF Blake Rutherford (slot)

27. SS Gavin Lux (under slot, projected to go lower)

49. 3B Carter Kieboom (over slot)

Wheres that from?

I can't see the Sox not taking a pitcher with any of their first three picks.

I think it's his personal wishlist. Not really a mock from any publication.

I really hope that the Sox draft Taylor Trammell.

He's a high school outfielder from Georgia and he's 6'3ft 195lbs. He played both football and baseball and had some big time D1 offers but he decided to play baseball only going forward. He's pretty raw when it comes to pitch recognition but he's shown that he can hit and I've seen his speed tool graded at 75+. I think that he will be there in the second round.

I'd love Rutherford and Lux.
