June 9, 201510 yr I have a friend who is an Astros fan that has been talking for weeks about how excited he was to see the Astros win at the Cell in person.
June 9, 201510 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:34 PM) Avi found his power stroke! 296/351/453 iso up to .157. He's looking sexy. If he can hit 280/330/450 on the year that's a great step imo. Could see a prime of 300/350/520. THat's pretty damn good in today's s*** run environment.
June 9, 201510 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 04:33 AM) US Saleular Field. I'm hilarious. That's actually a great line. Send that one to the beat writers and Rongey on Twitter.
June 9, 201510 yr http://espn.go.com/mlb/features/cyyoung Sale has a ways to go to get back into the race. (awarding 12 extra points for being in first place is kind of skewing it) Keuchel, Felix, Archer, Pineda and (probably) Kluber and/or Bauer are all going to factor into it. If you go by WAR, you've got Gray, Keuchel and Archer ahead of everyone....then Pelfrey (wow), Felix, Odorizzi, Kyle Gibson, Bauer, J. Chavez, Hector Santiago, Nick Martinez, Pineda and THEN Sale. David Price is right behind Chris as well, so it depends on what happens with the Tigers making the playoffs (if it's very close).
June 9, 201510 yr My TV was on another sporting event of course, but following on my phone, it was like, "Hey, another strikeout, there's another, and another." What a beast. The Sox need to get him in the playoffs at least once.
June 9, 201510 yr 1st Sox pitcher ever to K at least 10 in4 straight starts. 1st player since Randy Johnson in 2001 to K at least 12 in 3 straight starts. 4straight starts Sale has had at least 20 swings and misses. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last pitcher to accomplish that was Randy Johnson, from July 31-Aug. 15, 2002, for the D-backs. 1st pitcher since Johan Santana in 2004 to string together at least four straight starts of 10-plus strikeouts and no more than two walks. Chris Sale joined baseball legend Sandy Koufax as the only pitcher in the modern era with three straight sets of 12 strikeouts and one run allowed or fewer.

June 9, 201510 yr I was sitting 15th row between the plate and the Sox dugout last night. This was goddamn amazing to see in person. And to think, so many Sox fans missed it for a hockey game.

June 9, 201510 yr I think that was as good as I've seen Sale. Slider was as elite as it gets, FB touched 99, changeup was off early but he found it the third time through the order. Back-door sliders all night to get ahead, dotting to lower outside corner with the FB. Completely unfair.
June 9, 201510 yr Three or more excellent pitches translates into a winner. Maybe our new draft pick phenom can follow suit? They say he has three real good pitches and a funky motion. Sometimes I think an unorthodox delivry is like a 4th pitch
June 9, 201510 yr Despite a rough start to the year, Sale is now tied for 4th in WAR among starting pitchers, and that's with missing a start too.

Back-door sliders all night to get ahead, dotting to lower outside corner with the FB. Completely unfair. The way he was painting the black with his changeup to RHB was the most impressive part IMO. Yea the velocity was there on his FB and the bite on his slider but the command on the changeup was ridiculous. When a guy comes at you with an 80 fastball, 80 slider, and 70 changeup from a funky 6-6" delivery, just grab some bench.
