December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 03:21 AM) Well that may be it for the meetings, at least we got something done and it's a heck of a start. Hope we can land J Up and/or Fraizer or the Japenese 3B Highly doubt Upton signs until Heyward does
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 03:25 AM) Highly doubt Upton signs until Heyward does that is for sure.
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) Isn't Lawrie the likely 3B? Yes but I think the fact he plays both positions well defensively and really becomes a plus bat playing second. I think the move gives us the flexibility to continue talks with the Reds of we want and have the flexibility to move him to second.
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) He needs to be careful. That's how Sale hurt his foot. He's so happy in that video. I hate to be the one to tell him that Hot Doug's closed
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Who's to say it didn't hurt giving up Erwin? Thnking of it this way, you can replenish what you lost in the upcoming draft.
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) Highly doubt Upton signs until Heyward does So sign Heyward!
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:27 PM) Yes but I think the fact he plays both positions well defensively and really becomes a plus bat playing second. I think the move gives us the flexibility to continue talks with the Reds of we want and have the flexibility to move him to second. He doesn't have a plus bat at 2nd. Better than Sanchez for now. But Sanchez looks like he may be good. Prefer hitting the FA market for another bat rather than send Anderson for Frazier.
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 03:29 AM) Thnking of it this way, you can replenish what you lost in the upcoming draft. and it kinda of thins out some of the cluster in the 3-5 yr range... start another wave of pitchers coming in.
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:30 PM) So sign Heyward! YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! Someone please post that GIF lol.
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 03:30 AM) So sign Heyward! would it be better to get Yoenis Cespedes for no lost of draft pick??
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) I seriously can't believe this is what they gave up for Lawrie. What a trade. I know it's crazy. Hopefully he taps his potential.
December 10, 201510 yr Man, I hope the Sox work on an extension with Lawrie. Eaton and Lawrie are going to be a trip!
December 10, 201510 yr Author QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) As a fellow overly tattooed scumbag, I approve of this addition. I could never do those full sleeve tattoos. But they do look awesome.
December 10, 201510 yr After all the hand-wringing and speculation, this trade seems like a steal. Good job. I can't imagine the A's fans are too happy.
December 10, 201510 yr QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) would it be better to get Yoenis Cespedes for no lost of draft pick?? Heyward Age 26 Cespedes Age 30
December 10, 201510 yr Avila and Lawrie can rock/paper/scissors for #13. Edited December 10, 201510 yr by flavum
December 10, 201510 yr I really like this trade. Lawrie is cheap, controllable, he still has some upside and he can play 2nd or 3rd. Even duplicating his numbers from the past few years translates into a huge upgrade, at either position. Plus as mentioned he plays with some fire--something the team has definitely been lacking. Usually the A's seem to get the better of trades with the Sox but this time...I really like the move.
