Oh thank god. Hope we don't give up anything too significant still. Johnson and another fringe guy is all I'd do.
June 4, 20169 yr QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) Mods, can I have the power to delete Green Sox's posts on here? And maybe change my title from Benchwarmer to Garbage Man. Thanks boys +1000. Guys a clown.

June 4, 20169 yr Let's be clear the #Whitesox definitely are not trading prized SS Tim Anderson in talks with #Padres for Shields https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/739163828001243136

June 4, 20169 yr Padres expected to deal Shields; White Sox remain likely: The Padres have agreed to trade right-hander James… https://t.co/V9Ca0Xhdy2 https://twitter.com/sandiegojournal/status/...164373344608256
June 4, 20169 yr QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) Tatis Jr. mentioned in that article once again. Have a feeling it will end up being a bad trade down the line assuming Shields were to come here and do terrible.
June 4, 20169 yr Sources: Padres, White Sox in advanced stages of trade talks involving James Shields. Deal likely by tomorrow. https://t.co/vEZnUBvFar https://twitter.com/The_Xsport/status/739164060126609408
June 4, 20169 yr Shields, John Jay, Brad Hand and 23 million for Erik Johnson, Tatis Jr and more please.
June 4, 20169 yr If the Pads are eating half of his salary, that means the Sox will owe him about $11M a year. Will need about 1.5 WAR of value each year to make that worth it. Not a slam dunk, but not a tall order either from a guy who, outside of last year, was a steady 3 WAR pitcher, and was even on pace for 3+ WAR before his recent meltdowns.
June 4, 20169 yr I'm not going to feel good about this unless the Sox give up next to nothing. Shields is showing a lot of signs that he's cooked.
June 4, 20169 yr I am confused why we want to trade Tatis Jr after just signing him. Wasn't he a pretty good INT signing?
June 4, 20169 yr Padres, chisox are moving close to a James shields deal https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/739167056122220546

It'd be 8.5 million a year on average for Sox if padres paid half. Edited June 4, 20169 yr by Buehrle>Wood
June 4, 20169 yr Well hopefully we sign a bunch of talent during this year's international period to forget Tatis. With so many teams unable to spend heavily, we better.
June 4, 20169 yr SD will be getting $ relief (but will pay down portion). Chisox said no to Tim Anderson or other top prospects. https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/739167401539981312 With no top prospects given up for him I can deal with it Edited June 4, 20169 yr by WhiteSoxLifer
June 4, 20169 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) It'd be 8.5 million a year on average for Sox if padres paid half. $21M in 2017, $21 in 2018. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensa...n-diego-padres/ Also, he has an opt-out after this season, but obviously he would be a fool to do so.
June 4, 20169 yr I'm glad we're not giving up much and they're paying for some of his salary, but regardless, he's not even that good... peripherals are discouraging
June 4, 20169 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) It'd be 8.5 million a year on average for Sox if padres paid half. Looking at baseball reference, he's set to make $21 mill in each of 17 and 18. That'd be 11.5 we owe him those years. He has an option for $16 mill the following year.
