I never blamed the ump for the HR. I blamed McCann. The ump thing is secondary because Lester's plate is fucking 24 inches wide and Giolito's is 16. If Giolito got half of the calls that Lester is getting on the outside none of that would have happened. I'm not complaining about the ump getting balls and strikes wrong, as much as calling his zone consistently. There are 2 different zones and that is unacceptable Sorry for any confusion. You can't blame Gio for that inning. He was absolutely getting squeezed and McCann did him no favors. That inning was on McCann and the ump. He had to throw it down the heart of the plate to get a strike call. There are obviously 2 different zones.

There could be something to what soxfan49 is saying. Giolito's velocity is down tonight. No 96-97s like we had become used to. He's topping out at 95 tonight.

I'd rather him have the entire offseason to make adjustments to MLB pitching. He's not being challenged in AA, he's probably not going to be challenged in AAA either. Robert isn't going to learn anything else in the minors. He's ready. I'd like them to have as few question marks as possible by 2021.

I hate the service time games they're playing with Cease and Robert. The most important thing right now is that all of the youth on the team is good at the same time. Bring up Cease after the ASB (or next week if they need a 5th starter), bring up Robert in August, Bring up Madrigal on 4/15/2020 and Vaughn as soon as he shows he's raking at AA. This offense and pitching staff needs to be firing on all cylinders by 2021. At that point they only have 3 years of Moncada and Giolito left, so they need to maximize that window and quit dicking around.
