Even in the unlikely event that he plays up to his current salary, I don't think there is any way the Sox pick up his option. There are cheaper options for a team nowhere close to being good, even if the kids aren't ready to step in right away.
I did a little digging and found some additional Sox games on opponent broadcasts. These are all listed on mlb.tv:
2/27 vs LAD - SNLA
3/1 vs CHC - MARQ
3/3 vs LAA - BSW
3/14 vs LAA - BSSC
3/16 vs Sea - RSNW
3/21 vs KC - BSKC
3/22 vs LAA - BSW
3/9 vs SD will be a Padres webcast
Anything short of an MVP caliber season and that option is not picked up. Even then I’d imagine his agent would want to take Yoan to FA to score a big long term deal.
So the Cubs are paying people to spy on the White Sox dealings? This is what you're suggesting?
The baseball team every media outlet fawns over is paying for dirt on the other team that most of their sycophants couldn't give two shits about?
Sure.
I don’t have a subscription either, but that little detail stuck out to me too. I don’t know how it would work, but it does sound fishy. Of course JR would stick someone else with the greater risk for potential later gains, it is his M.O.
