Agreed. I feel that a warehouse stadium would age poorly, especially with Wrigley Field, one of the most iconic, cozy baseball stadiums of all time, already taking up residence in the city. We’d be stuck playing second fiddle stadium-wise again. Indeed. Like T-Mobile Park, Daikin Park also stores its three-panel roof beyond right field, but (imo) Daikin Park maintains a better view past left field. If a retractable roof is actually being considered, then Ishbia’s team would need to find a way to keep both sides of the outfield visible. Otherwise, we either can’t see the skyline, or we can’t hit dingers into the river.

Five factoids today: July 24, 1960 - In the first game of a double header at New York, future Hall of Famer Nellie Fox banged out his 2,000th career hit. On the afternoon he’d have a pair in the 6-3 Sox victory. The hit came in the first inning on a single to left field off of Jim Coates. The Sox would split the double header for the day. July 24, 1968 - Sox relief pitcher Hoyt Wilhelm appeared in both ends of a double header versus the Athletics at Comiskey Park and in doing so set the record for most appearances by a pitcher. The future Hall of Famer broke Cy Young’s record of 906 games. “Old Tilt” would appear in a staggering 1,070 games before he retired. Wilhelm became the top relief pitcher of the 1960's. In his six years with the Sox, he’d win 41 games and save 99 others while producing some astonishingly low ERA’s considering he threw the knuckleball. His highest ERA between 1963 and 1968 was 2.64, every other season it was below two. July 24, 2020 – Because of the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic the regular season started four months later than normal. A bizarre, bastardized 60 game season was ordered by Commissioner Rob Manfred after the owners and players union could not agree on a longer schedule. Mason Miller would be a stupid ass use of resources and is the sort of move you make when you're at like 94 on the win expectations and have a starting staff ready to dominate the playoffs. It is not a move you make with this 2026 Sox team.

His command was noticeably better pre injury. Again, no guarantee he works out as minor league relievers are highly risky, but I think he’s got some value and could be used via trade to help improve the major league roster. I obviously put him last because he has far & away the lowest value of the guys listed.

That’s what got me to come up with that proposal. Ideally you hold Edgar into next year and hope he can rebuild some value, but a lot of our potential chips will require trading them low and Edgar as short side platoon backup catcher is fairly replaceable. I’m definitely open to moving him.

Houston has a decent offense (104 wrC+) but outside Alvarez not too much slug. They have a poor defense and an awful (4.80 FIP) staff. On paper we should take 2/3 given we're at home with favorable SP matchups. Martin has not been sharp lately and has been middle middle way too much even if he's still getting a decent amount of whiffs. I think he can give us 6 innings with 3 allowed tonight. Offense needs to do their job and the pen should be well rested.

I really, really, really hope that we use the found money this season (literally, we are up 20% YoY in attendance so far, with a lot of season left) that they are willing to take on salary versus the prospect cost this season.

Very interesting. Yes, it's all totally hypothetical, but it does make a retractable roof look at least technically feasible on that site. I guess we'll see. It's not a certainty that a ballpark gets built there at all let alone whether Ishbia is willing to bankroll several hundred million $ more for a roof. Any roof would really have to retract in such a way that makes the stadium look open air when it's not raining or cold. If they're going to end up with something that looks like a warehouse like in Texas and Arizona and blocks out views of the city, then people aren't going to like it.

Yeah, the Amtrak property looks too narrow to me for a MLB stadium. Ishbia no doubt has engineers and architects involved that can see the same constraints if he's this far into the process of buying that land. So yeah, my guess is that they are in discussions to purchase part of the BNSF/Metra property or the "air rights" to build over part of that property. They might need only about 100 ft or so of extra width to fit a ballpark there.

There are tons of minor league relievers who have good stuff and poor command that holds them back.
