  2. Except none of them are plus CFers. Then you have Acuna. Austin Hays four years in a row in the playoffs for 4 different teams is Pham-like.
  3. Smith, Hudson, Hicks and Kay were all just openers for Taylor.
  4. Pretty much has to be in the mix...
  5. Dream on....... Dream away .....
  6. Absolutely insane how many decent platoon / fourth outfielders Getz already had and either traded away or dumped to pay a ransom for Doyle.
  7. He's been surprisingly good. He wasn't bad on the Sox either.
  8. Had no idea Dustin Harris is batting 2nd for the Padres right now.
  9. You need guys that can go 6+ innings in the regular season. Can't rely on openers all year long (and the Sox didn't, but they used them when necessary). But when it comes to the playoffs even the best pitchers will get pulled early unless they are completely dominating. The opener works in a playoff series, but if the Sox had 2 guys (or 3) that could be relied to go 5 or 6 innings in a playoff series they'd take that. The playoffs are a much much smaller sample size of games and matchups can be played more in the playoffs. You still have to get through the grind of the season and you can't rely on openers and whatnot for 162 games.
  10. Schultz could be in the mix also.
  11. They’ll trade for a young starter from their infield depth in the minors and sign a FA. Probably hope Billy Carlson has a good first half and deal him this deadline.

  13. All may be true, and still he looks like he’s butthurt focusing on himself more than the team win.
  14. Hi Dunk, nice to meet you!
  15. Thought this was a joke edit, but it's real. Someone at Google actually coded a little 💯 animation when you search Mune's name.
  16. I don't think Fedde will break the bank so I'd bring him back. Not a starter, but I think Newcomb will cost too much to retain. That money being spent on Castillo is annoying as hell
  17. We definitely match up better against the Rays because of starting pitching. Rasmussen is obviously really good, but we've shown we can hit Martinez and Jax. Schlittler is the best pitcher in the AL, we've always had our issues against Cole, and the depth of the Yankees starters is better than Tampa.
  18. I think you have at least 3/5 or an acceptable rotation in Burke, Martin, and Kay. Maybe you get Fedde back next year to be the 5th starter, but you really can't count on Castillo next year so they need to at least spend some money on a middle of the rotation option in free agency.
  19. Rooting for the Rays. I'm dreaming big and just think we have a better shot to beat Tampa than the Yankees. Although honestly I'm over the moon if we just get to the ALCS
  20. Hopefully, a deep playoff run forces ownership to spend on a good starter, a good closer, and a good right handed bat.
  21. Pitch speeds and EVs are pretty precise, I've never seen either be off after the fact. They are raw measurements. You see distances be wrong sometimes because if Statcast can't fully track the flight path then they fill the gap with a projection based on those raw measurements that make assumptions about the environment that can end up not reflecting the real world (wind, temperature, humidity, etc.).
  22. Gotta get 800 innings from 7 'starters.' Meaning the five opening starters and two other qho fill in for injuries. If they were in this situation and the pen was less burnt, it would be great. Would also like to have one real starter for playoffs.
  23. Martinez has been pretty good in the outfield on defense this year. It ended up not really mattering and maybe it affects how much Taylor can pitch on Monday. I expect him to be available in a shorter outing. 40 pitches isn't some crazy workload for him.
  24. What are the odds that statcast is wrong on the exit velo? We see it get distances wrong sometimes, but if it was somehow 5 or 10 MPH off on the exit velo? Because 96 EV at 31 degrees averages about 365 feet, which is almost exactly how far that ball went today.
