I thought it was an exciting World Series. Any series that doesn't include the Cubs, Red Sox or Yankees is fine by me.

White Sox hiring Matt Roffe as Scouting Director
I'm always in favor of hiring as many excellent, intelligent baseball people from winning organizations as possible. White Sox hiring Matt Roffe from Brewers to lead scouting...The White Sox have cited the Brewers as an organization to emulate, and their actions are backing up their words. The morning after the Brewers won their first World Series title in franchise history,https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2026/10/29/white-sox-hiring-matt-roffe-away-from-brewers-to-fill-open-amateur-scouting-director-role

Sox picked 13th, Detroit 7th, Cleveland 8th, Cubs 17th in early 2027 ESPN projections
So are you fer it or again it? And if those were his numbers then yes they probably would not be getting other starting pitching unless you were to count Fedde or maybe Newcomb in that mix.

Oh yeah if he was a FA this would be stupid unless they immediately extended him and even then it’d be an overpay.- 2026 NFL thread
More like Daniel Pooper, amirite? But seriously, he's kind of right, but also sort of misses the point. We're all on the same page. This IS to win the Super Bowl. That's why you make the move. Nothing is ever guaranteed in sports, but you can either try and make the playoffs every year and hope for the best, or push the chips in a theoretically give yourself a better chance to win it all. The question then becomes "There is a very real world where 5 years from now, you look back at the 2026-2027 roster and say "God they had so many pieces, how did they not try harder to go for it?" and do you want to do that, or do you want to try to maximize the window you have now, with your 24 year old ascending QB on his rookie deal? If Simmons stays healthy and continues his play over the next two years, it's not an overpay based on the team needs and makeup of the Bears. And the trade isn't failure if they make the next two NFC Championship games. I want my GM to not only build a good foundation for a team, but I want them to have the balls to make the moves necessary to take you to the next level, to go from good to great. Good isn't the expectation, I want them to be great.- “The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
New Crain's article about both the Bears and Sox stadium efforts. Greg Hinz: The Bears stadium deal is suddenly looking real. Here’s why. https://www.chicagobusiness.com/politics-policy/ccb-chicago-bears-white-sox-stadium-hinz-20261029/ From the article: "Sources in the know tell me the Bears are close to a deal that would keep them in Illinois. Sorry, Hammond. The Sox face a tougher road, with neighborhood opposition threatening plans for a new stadium that could deliver a major economic boost to the South Loop." "Insiders tell me the recent involvement of Bears minority owner Pat Ryan has made a big difference. The insurance billionaire has a reputation for getting things done and arguably has better relationships with the billionaires who really run the National Football League than the McCaskey family does. He also has strong ties to Pritzker and Illinois House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, whom he knows through their shared involvement in Northwestern athletics." ...and about the Sox: "However, inward-looking, bungalowed Bridgeport never has been interested in such around-the-clock excitement. Local Ald. Nicole Lee, 11th, tells me she’s willing to talk about some development to keep a team that’s called the neighborhood home for more than a century. Growing the 35th Street corridor already is a priority for her, she says. However, she notably adds, “There’s a lot of space between what we have and what the Ricketts have (done) in Wrigleyville.” So, maybe there’s some room to maneuver there. But it’s doubtful that even some development around Rate Field could provide more than a small fraction of the synergy and pop of building a new Sox stadium next to or just across the river from the new stadium that Morningstar’s Joe Mansueto is building for his Chicago Fire soccer team on The 78 property at Roosevelt Road and the river." "My bet: Amtrak and its partner, Ishbia, get final federal environmental approval and move ahead. Everybody will lawyer up. And a potential new mayor will face a real test of whether he or she is up to the task of managing a tough city."- White Sox hiring Matt Roffe as Scouting Director

https://www.southsidesox.com/chicago-white-sox-news/137848/white-sox-turn-to-milwaukees-matt-roffe-to-lead-amateur-scouting Roffe spent the past five seasons with Milwaukee, working his way through scouting operations before reaching his most recent position. The Brewers’ 2023 media guide listed him as their scouting operations coordinator. His résumé includes experience across several areas of baseball operations. Before returning to Milwaukee, Roffe worked as an analyst in player personnel and pro scouting for the Arizona Diamondbacks from November 2019 through October 2021. That followed a baseball operations internship with the Brewers in 2019 and a baseball research and development internship with the San Diego Padres in 2018. While attending college, he also interned in MLB’s Statcast and labor relations departments. Together, those stops give Roffe a background spanning research, technology and player evaluation. How he applies that experience to Chicago’s scouting department will be one of the more interesting parts of the eventual announcement. 2018 Wash University St Louis grad, so probably only 30-31 years old- White Sox hiring Matt Roffe as Scouting Director

Yep, but I bet his sack numbers jump as a result. He already got paid but this is the best thing to happen to him for sure.- White Sox hiring Matt Roffe as Scouting Director
seems like a huge promotion, regardless of how his contract ended in Milwaukee...but hard to imagine someone in their scouting department being held in anything but the highest regard after their last couple of seasons and all their draft successes- World Series GameThread
Awwweee Yeaaaahhhhh- Sox picked 13th, Detroit 7th, Cleveland 8th, Cubs 17th in early 2027 ESPN projections
Rogers should be around $75-85 million, and would still constitute the biggest Sox contract ever...- 2026 NFL thread
Nevermind. I didn’t see that he signed an extension this past summer. I thought he was FA after this year. Good trade then. SORRY, I WAS WRONG, @Tony!!!- 2026 NFL thread
To echo others, I’m really excited they took a big swing. Mack was the easy choice, but it’s a temporary stop gap. Simmons changes the entire defense, and is now one of the three most important players on the team, and is locked up. You can glass half full and glass half empty things, but if the plan works, you’re talking about trading two first round picks that will land between 27-32. Are you going to draft a player that gives you the kind of production you are expecting out of Simmons with either of those picks? In the Bears current competitive window? It’s a high price to pay, but I applaud the Bears for taking a major swing at this, and recognizing they have a real shot to win this thing in the next two years. Time to go.- 2026 NFL thread
You’re right. That’s the best answer and what my Bears fan buddy said. I just hate giving up so much draft capital for 29/30 year old defensive players. I liked the Buckner trade, but this is the going rate for a top defensive players and the price of playing poker.- 2026 NFL thread
I would consider a major injury something going drastically wrong lol- 2026 NFL thread
very true.- 2026 NFL thread
It wasn't that long ago that just about every Bears fan thought this season was over. One major injury can change a lot of things.- 2026 NFL thread
