Current core doesn't have quite as many superstar ceilings...but overall possess the higher floors across the board. That said, Vargas/Colson/Mune all have been great at various points this year. And right now it feels like the depth is tremendous everywhere but CF and across the pitching staff. Biggest "worries" positionally are Antonacci vs. Meidroth and the catching spot...at least ATM. Not exactly team killing issues. That said, Bonemer and Roch could be huge movers to push it over the top, and then there's always the Mune wild card, too. What ranking did Baseball America give to the various drafts?

Outside of baseball fans, Pat McAfee probably is a bigger star than Murakami. He was a punter and kickoff specialist in the NFL for 8 years and had a fairly long tenure in the WWE. He makes more money from ESPN and other ventures than the Sox pay Murakami.

I'm sure if you really investigated properly you could come up with plenty of people who liked him from the day he was drafted. Other's saw him for the 1st time in Spring Training and then the WBC. When are you claiming your loyalty and Ray's started ? Maybe your investigative reporting has some biases perhaps ? 😂

Eaxactly and Getz is quoting as saying he's not a savior. He's just another solid piece and in the article he also said things along those lines. There's no hurry.

I turned on the game right before the Vargas HR and had opened up Gameday to see if Mune and Peters had had any AB's and saw they were both in the game but no AB's yet. So from seeing who I wanted to see standpoint I turned on the game at just the right time.

Same names in amateur scouting department but way more focus on development. Directors of pitching, hitting, sports science and analytics. Everything is linked. As someone with a bad lower back, playing any defense with a bad back is tough. I've never had issues swinging even with the bad lower back, but defense and base running is always what made it flare up. I think there's less lateral movement needed at 3B so it might be a bit easier on the back than SS, where you have to cover more ground and maybe extend your back a bit more to reach for grounders. I can definitely see Colson's recent bad defensive play on mostly routine grounders as some kind of pain tolerance issue. Where reaching down might bother him and it's causing him to lose focus on routine plays he usually makes.

I have been wondering that as well. I don't think 3B will be any better on one's back than SS.
