Have a feeling the next right handed sluggers for our Sox are named Bonemer and Roch.

Wish I had put $100 down on them to lose every game for those 21 in a row. I’m sure that would be a high 6 to near 7 figure return. Though, placing $2000 on the Sox to win the central this year back in February would fetch between 90 and 150k, depending on the market. Insane.

  13. They had a lot of neat items in there in addition to the jersey. They also sold some memorabilia in there too. Always thought it was a shame they tore it out to expand the Home Plate shop. The next stadium definitely needs a proper team history museum.

  15. This seems way too early.
  16. A number of specimen type outfielders were drafted by the White Sox that are usually Yankees or Red Sox or Dodgers.

  19. You never draft for need but I have the Sox biggest needs as 1) Starting pitching 2) Outfielders 3) Contact HItters
  20. You're damn right that many Sox fans blame Jerry for the 1994 strike......and they were absolutely right in their anger. The thing is, not only did it put a stop to what could have been a deep playoff run, that was pretty much the end for the competitive window for that core of players that burst onto the scene in 1990. After the strike, the team fizzled out in 1995 and beyond. Thanks, Jerry! Mark Buehrle was so awesome. What an incredible career he had for the Sox. He earned that retired number and statue. I looked up Brian Downing's stats and was amazed to see that he ended up playing for 20 years. He had quite a nice career with the Angels after the Sox trading him away for 26 games of Bobby Bonds. I'd say that was a terrible trade, but the minor leaguer we got in that trade along with Bonds and Thad Bosley was.....Richard Dotson, a key member of that 1983 starting rotation. That kind of reminds me of how the Sox traded away past and future All-Star SS (and 1978 World Series MVP) Bucky Dent for one season rental Oscar Gamble. At least Gamble was a key part of that magical 1977 team though he was gone after one season, but the minor leaguer we got from NY along with Gamble was.....LaMarr Hoyt! Again, a key member of that 1983 starting rotation (Cy Young winner!). And of course, when we eventually traded away Hoyt to San Diego, our return included a minor leaguer named.....Ozzie Guillen. So, that Dent trade ended up with us getting Guillen with one season of Gamble and that 1983 Cy Young season from Hoyt in between. Funny how that worked out. I still remember Harry Caray gloating in 1985, when Hoyt was doing great for SD, at how the Sox traded away such a stud pitcher for Luis Salazar and some minor leaguer and what a stupid trade that was. I think that traded ended up being okay for the Sox after all. 🙂
  21. “Clubs weren’t willing to pay for that much more control,” an NL executive said. “Whether it was because of labor concerns, short-term focuses, or prospect overprotectiveness, it seems like the market segmented itself into rentals, and players with control, but that second group seemed bucketed together, whether it was two, three or four years of control. “To me this is the continuation of a trend we saw last season where certain rentals – Merrill Kelly and Tyler Rogers stick out – had pretty strong returns, and the players with control didn’t return as much as you thought. mlb.com
  22. Big deal. Hagen is going to walk way more than Jac.
  23. Wander Franco concurs. That said if you added career fWAR from Eduardo Escobar, Tatis Jr., Al.Ramirez, Luis Robert and Abreu...would surely beat White Sox drafted position player fWAR output from 2012-2025. Pitching is a different story ofc.
  24. Seems like some pretty big reforms to the international operations the past couple years. Probably takes some time to bear fruit. If it will at all. Paddy been gone almost two years now but I imagine most of these players are his picks made by whatever meager resources the previous front office provided. Personally, I’m team “Leave Dominican Teens Alone”.
