I expect the team to sign another starter, and one or two players with experience in the back end of the pen. I wouldn't be opposed to the Soc reuniting with Kopech, he doesn't fit the culture/vibe they have now.

This would be bonkers, but awesome, assuming it’s another one where the deal is smaller than initially expected. I’ve seen a TON of Imai; he has really blossomed the past couple seasons after being really wild at the start of his career. I don’t see him as an mlb ace by any stretch, tbh, but I do see him as a #3/4 with youth on his side, which would be a boon for this team of course.

Modelo?

To be honest, I was excited about this news until I saw Boras' name and then figured slim chance. It was fun to read some Cubby fans lose their s%*# though so I'll take that for some end of the year shenanigans.

Per Passan: White Sox sign Munetaka Murakami 2 years 34M
WhiteSox2023 replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Sox currently have the smallest largest contract in the MLB. Call that what you want, but you shouldn’t be surprised when some Sox fans call it being cheap. We also have a direct quote from Getz regarding how Brooks Boyer was involved in talking up the marketing potential to get the Murakami signing to the finish line. I don’t believe that anyone said that Jerry was completely clueless to this marketing potential but we all remember his comments on Ohtani. Finally, if Murakami’s market was truly $150+ million as was initially estimated as opposed to signing for $34 million, do you honestly believe he would be a White Sox right now? -
Sox the "front-runners" for Imai
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I mean... the only way the Sox end up with these guys is if they get contracts smaller than Jorge polanco so far. Which apparently required an overhead projector presentation on transparency film to the chairman by Getzy and Brooks. Don't disagree it's nice to be in a rumor... I guess. -
Sadly those snippets do not mention Jerry or Ishbia.

I do think that Cubs dude is right though, based on everything else that has followed that report, I’d guess it was Boras trying to get the Cubs and others to get moving
-
Rumors checking in that Imai likes the sauce. A lot 😱
-
Top off-season target Austin Slater would like a word
-
He appears to be saying he believes the Sox are trying to tie up a long-term deal.
- Today

I remember trying to play mental gymnastics to justify the John Brebbia signing. We’ve come a long way.
-
Still double. Believe the “wouldn’t” should be “would”
-
It’s fun to be in these kind of rumors as opposed to “Sox have interest in Josh Rojas”
-
Is that a triple negative?
-
Damn beat me to it
-
“I don't doubt that the #WhiteSox wouldn't be interested in a short-term deal” lol this guy was just scolding people on their literacy
-
Feels like he should take his own media literacy advice.
-
I was confused why some posters don’t think Boras can talk to the Japanese media and they can in turn report on what he said. Whether what Boras tells them is true or not, who knows?
-
lol salty much?
-
Cubs fans are gonna be saaaaalty if the Sox do sign him

https://www.mlb.com/news/tatsuya-imai-kazuma-okamoto-meeting-mlb-teams A report from Yahoo Japan indicated the White Sox were emerging as contenders for Imai, though Feinsand reported that Chicago is a longshot to ink the righty. The White Sox have already landed one marquee Japanese player this offseason, signing 25-year-old slugger and two-time NPB MVP Munetaka Murakami to a two-year deal on Dec. 21. The Yahoo Japan report also mentioned the Yankees and Phillies as teams in the running for Imai.
