(Full disclosure: I'm related to Sam.) Is it possible that Sam's behavior last evening (whether you agree with it or not) was an attempt to stir things up and get the guys fired up? I do get the sense that they're feeling intimidated by the Red Sox, and very tentative.

I've honestly had more fun watching the Mets play the past 2 days, that's how depressing our games have been this series.

Would be absolutely hilarious if they pull off this game and twins and guardians lose again, and the Sox gain another game after getting smacked around by Boston

I am surprised today's game isn't an afternoon game because of the travel.

Thinking some about that Early/Mead trade. Early was the 10th rated prospect in Boston's system last season prior to his debut and has pitched quite well in the MLB so far (regression to be expected). Adams was 12th in our system, is three years older and has a 2 point higher ERA at AAA. Pretty easy to say that Early has more trade value than Adams but are in a similar tier. How much better of a player is Mead than Doyle? Mead has obviously had a very nice season at the plate but went into the season with career negative WAR and doesn't have a true position. He is one of the worst infield defenders in MLB. Doyle has ~5ish WAR, plays GG caliber defense at a much more important position but has been dreadful at the plate this season and the first half of last. Have to think Mead is probably a bit more valuable at this moment in time, but these seem like fairly similar trades to me, former top prospects who have struggled to take hold in MLB traded for controllable, mid-rotation type guys. Difference is Mead and Connelly have done something in MLB this season compared to the other two. Boston also trades from a position of pitching depth relative to our Sox who could use some rotation help, but it's hard to see Mead in Boston's longterm plans except as a Yoshida DH replacement. Doyle doesn't have to do a whole lot to be the Sox starting CF for years to come. If he hits ~.700ish OPS and normalizes his splits vR, you probably have an every day GG center fielder producing 4ish WAR. That isn't a huge ask. Adams would have to turn out to be a better pitcher than Martin to match that production. What are the odds of either of these things happening? I bet they're reasonably close in probability.

Man I sure wish we traded for a guy who gives up 5 R in 4 IP to one of the worst teams in baseball like the Guardians did.

I think Sonny Gray would have been on the White Sox by now if they had continued their form in May.

By my count, Sox are 14-12 in their last 26. 0-5 vs. Boston, 14-7 vs. everyone else. Would have been nice to have caught them in May or June.

I'm happy the rest of the division laid an egg so far while we're getting mollywhopped by the hottest team I've seen since the A's won like 20 straight in the early 00s.

I don't know why you think this a surprising season. This is a good White Sox team. I will be surprised if the team doesn't make the 2026 playoffs.

Boston, just like the last series against them, is the hottest team in baseball. Their pitching has been incredible and they’re seemingly squaring up anything thrown at them. That’s a tough team to beat and will make even good teams look bad. I expect an L today and won’t think twice about it when the sweep is complete. It shouldn’t be used as proof that we suddenly suck or whatever nonsense dumb fans will inevitably throw around. No analysis should go further than the fact we ran into a buzz saw. They just swept LAD before us.

Other teams might start pitching the Sox like Boston does, lots of breaking pitches down and fastballs up and many out of the zone.

I am absolutely dumbfounded that Drew Romo continues to catch meaningful games for the White Sox. He can not hit and his defense, blocking, throwing, ABS is brutal. Can anyone who may be insider please educate me on why Drew Romo continues to play for the White Sox? Tell me why Eric Haase or even Quero are not upgrades over him? Only Free Agents count to make it seem worse even though Mune is downgraded because he fell in their laps and could have fallen in a lot of teams laps. And using Dominquez doesn't count even though he contributed 3X as many save as the top White Sox save RP from all of last year and helped offset a good portion off the cost of 2 years of Castillo. I'm not counting the 2028 option since I'm pretty sure it won't be picked up because Castillo has long odds of reaching that innings count in 2027. No reason to exclude Newcomb since he was a FA but that's typical of that poster's sloppy data work. Apparently other off season acquisitions who've made impacts don't count like Hudson, Peters and Hicks . Plus considering the Sox were still rebuilding they left space for incoming rookies to make an impact like Mune, Antonacci , Braden Montgomery and Peters after Acuna failed in the OF. Plus they didn't have payroll as usual this off season so they used the trade of Robert's full $20M salary to sign Hays and Dominquez and the trade that netted them Sandlin and Hicks who hasn't given up a single run since May 20th.

Hope it gets rained out. Boston is on another worldly level right now.

The Sox need to change something about their approach at the plate. It’s dreadful to watch them strike out ~25% of the time. They can’t swing from the heels on every pitch of every at bat. There has to be some situational awareness.

He already admitted (before your post) that it was lazy stat work by him not some profound statement on cherry picking. Oops. Do you really have to stick up for the most negative Sox opinions because you've been that way for the last few years and have trouble seeing that the Sox might be a contender before your 2030 statement at one point ? You're already dead on that hill but maybe the Sox will collapse in the 2nd half and have a bad 2027 and 2028 and you'll be happy and right .

Kevin Roth YELLOW/GREEN - Ok now I'm getting tired of saying it... yet another game with a few little downpours around. I'd call it a low chance of a delay, and the game will play 9 innings regardless of any potential delay.
