  2. Extra division in each league and less wild cards?
  3. They need to figure this pitching out if they are serious about winning in the postseason. This is negligence and unsustainable.
  4. I'm gonna be salty for awhile about that umpire report card site that said the home plate ump's calls gave the Cubbys a run in game 1. Sox should have won Monday in regulation so I'm still pissed.
  5. Sure. Honestly anyone to eat innings at the beginning of ballgames right now.
  6. I don't think he needs to be replaced but there is still a learning curve that will frustrate us all.
  7. And, 1 bad call by ump helped beat Hicks. He could not recover.
  8. They hoped Davis Martin would get right and not sure why they bumped Fedde from a spot and then have not replaced him. I have no statistical proof but the opener does not seem to work for them. They should have looked to extend Newcomb deeper and see what they had. He had a great game in June I think it was, and then they went away from it. Their decisions surrounding the pitching staff have been odd. How does your closer not close either of these last two games? Hicks was the choice Monday but not Tuesday? I non idiot catcher and Hicks gets the save Monday.
  9. I was fine with Getz moves at the deadline at the time, but after watching this all play out.. why the F did they not get 2 more starters? This is really embarrassing to try to win a division with 3 starters.
  10. Burke, undecided and pray for rain.
  11. Today

  12. Otoh Steele and/or Horton are going to be back at some point next season. But yeah, Suzuki Happ Imanaga (complicated contract, and time to go back into FA but no great pitchers after Skubal either)...
  13. Davis Martin has a 3-4 record with an ERA of 6.08 and 28 strikeouts in 8 appearances against the Twins in his career.
  14. Tip of the hat to Fedde for his excellent 4.2 innings. 8/28 @ Twins: Davis Martin's return could be just what this team needs.
  15. Being completely fair about this, this season was also a huge overcorrection from their lack of effort at the deadline last season. They caught a tremendous amount of s%*# last season and that even carried over to this season with good ole Bruce
  16. Wonder what “Undecided’s” innings limit is.
  17. While this is 100% true, it was a much easier call for the Cubs to go all in than the Sox since they have some pretty important players in their walk year. But your overall point stands. There’s no way this starting pitching is remotely equipped for the stretch run.
  18. Wilbur Wood's 8 complete games and 376.2 innings was a bullpen saver in 1972.
  19. You know you’re pitching is in trouble when “undecided” is a regular spot in the rotation!
  20. Let's start with not spotting them 2 runs in the first inning by throwing BP pitches to PCA.
  21. I'm not done yet. I saw the Boston Smith trade coming. I just didn't predict the details, but I figured someone would get him from Getz. It happened. But the Vielma give away plan? This one surprised me. There was just no reason for it.
  22. Frank Beard, ZZ Top's drummer (who didn't have a beard) passed away at 77. I just read that he had stepped away from the band's tour earlier this month due to health issues. Apparently he was in Hospice care when he died.
  23. Vielma had his 17th birthday last week. This is a Tatis - like trade all over again. And, the Rockies just wanted to get rid of Doyle. They needed the roster spot for a couple young players. Someone take him, please. Please. Enter Getz and his crack scouting staff. Just 8 months earlier, give or take, Sox gave Vielma $400,000 to sign. All he did was hit. "We gotta trade this guy. We need an outfielder who can't hit, as long as he's a right-handed hitter. What? What?? You say you need a pitcher, too. No problem, we'll include Mason Adams. But that's it. You can't have any more."
  24. Much easier said than done...but why they keep challenging him instead of treating him like CLE Josh Naylor or prime Jose Ramirez is beyond me.
  25. Could this be why eSports is growing so fast?
