  2. They will as most of the population is in that part of Tampa Bay and lot easier to get to than St. Pete and the Trop. After the the magnetism of the new stadium wears off they will probably draw somewhere around 1.6 million a year, maybe 2 million with a good team in a pennant race.
  3. Not sure fondly is the right word for most of the 70s and 80s. As a Sox fan, it was "our" stadium, but it never became part of the national fabric like Fenway, Yankee, Wrigley, Dodger Stadium etc. I guess it is a totally different feeling for those who grew up in the 50s and 60s, when there were so many competitive Sox teams.
  4. We’re down to the final 30ish games of the season. Every game counts, including those for the teams we are fighting against. Right now, discussions of Cleveland scores appear in various threads. Let’s keep them in one place. Obviously, Cleveland is the team we care about most, but Texas/Houston games are huge as well if we can hang on in the division. Let’s get that 2 seed.
  5. All I want for Christmas : Sign Nuke & Grich, extend Mune & Vargas
  6. Mune still batting second. Doyle back on bench. Guards start an hour before our game.
  7. CLE/KC starts in an hour if anyone needs something to hold them over until our game
  8. Bring home a White Sox Winner as the SWEEP THE CENTRAL campaign rolls on!!!!

  10. Given Comiskey's historical impact on the franchise and how fondly people remember the place, I think the Sox would be crazy if they went with a "post-retro", modern looking design for a new stadium like in Tampa and Vegas. It's not like they'd be trying to manufacture a retro look out of whole cloth that could come off as inauthentic. That's not to say it would be a Comiskey clone, including things that absolutely would not work today, of course. I suppose with the Royals, almost their entire history has been in Kauffman (all but their first 4 seasons), so maybe that's why they seem to be going with a similar look for their proposed new stadium. That being said, hopefully Amtrak and Canal Edge are working on addressing neighborhood concerns and ways to mitigate the impact of moving the maintenance yard to Bridgeport if they don't want to see their project delayed or shot down.
  11. Yeah but the offense isn't great. Boston is the team that scares me. Yankees offense and their bullpen issues as well as their defensive lapses make them vulnerable. Those vulnerabilities were on display against us.
  12. He was streaky in Japan. It'll come back.
  13. Man if you are already talking about haters and you haven’t started, you are losing
  14. Anyone worried about tonite can relax. I just washed our gnome with the garden hose.
  15. Twins pulled a Sox: Buxton didn't go down, so they are down a man tonight.
  16. Yeah, but the guys you'd count on to be strikeout pitchers (Burke, Urquidy & Castillo are all above 9 SO/9 with the Sox) have been unable to put anyone away in recent starts. The guys without big stuff (Kay and Fedde) have been our best pitchers.
  17. They are the only team in the AL I'd think we wouldn't have more than a 40/60 chance against. The top of their rotation in a short series will be hard to beat. I'd say we'd be heavy dogs, like +400 or something to win the series whereas maybe +150, 175 against Rays or Boston. At least in my odds.
  18. The problem is we have a lot of mediocre to bad pitchers on the staff that do not own put away type stuff. They don't have to worry about pitches they can't get a bad on.
  19. Yeah, foul balls and borderline takes not going our way have been a routine theme with our starters lately. Either our pitch sequencing is totally atrocious, or hitters are sitting fastball and getting away with it because they don't have to worry about any of our starters' offspeed pitches.
