The timing would have needed to have been pre-massive slump. As of now, you are going to be paying the suck tax for what he has done in the second half, but especially concerning is the almost straight line drop in his production as the season has gone on. The contact has dropped, the walk rates have dropped, the power has dropped, and his K rate is basically record breaking.

The power is real, the defense is real. I think he definitely would be desired even with the Ks. To me it’s just a numbers game on this team. And also, this organization favors trading for better players over paying them on the open market, so I could definitely see him packaged this offseason for pitching. I get it believe me. I have been on this ride with the Sox for well over 50 years. You do what you got to do to get through these games and these seasons. Baseball is unique in that the season is so long with so many games that you really get emotionally invested as a fan. Right now I just want this team to make the playoffs. Of course I would love to see them win the Division but just making the playoffs would be so great after the last 3 years. Also it would be great experience for all the young guys on this team and something to really build on.

If we lose and Texas loses, it would move to 0.5 because the orioles still have the tiebreaker with us. I highly doubt the orioles come into Yankee stadium and sweep them.

Dodgers fan base use to hate Robert's till he won the two most recent World Series. I actually think a lot of the complaints they had about Roberts are similar to some of the complaints about Venable.
