Since the deadline the Sox are 4th in position player WAR and 5th in wRC+ in all of baseball. Meanwhile they're 22nd and 20th in pitching WAR and ERA. They blew it because the Sox acquired no real starters at the deadline when it was a desperate need.

In early September, the first four batters against him went triple, walk, out, single. And we didn’t score a run. That’s tough to do.

I do feel like if they waited a few weeks/month, they could have had both Castillo and Doyle for nothing (waiver/DFA claims).

There are many reasons we are playing in a wildcard series. The main reason is Mune and Colson falling off a cliff.

At least we avoided Mason Adams pitching a meaningful G162 against the Sox by one start and an early clinching. So there's that. And there's no doubt he has been better recently...regardless of the statistical measure. GEtz would simply argue he was merely meant to take some tough at bats against lefties away from Peters and provide him more rest down the stretch.

His best broadcast of the season was an LA Sparks wnba game. Didn't know most of the bench players on either roster. But much more enthusiastic for basketball. Reported top contender three years ago Mike Monaco did a lot of US Open tennis quite well. Karl Ravech would be my choice...but salary demands likely too high, unless he has some unknown Chicago ties?
