  1. Past hour

  2. Outside of Derrick Rose, I don't think there's been a more Stacey King-flavored player on the Bulls than Caleb Wilson. Then you add Matas. He'd have loved calling this team so much.
  3. He has a loooooong way to go, but if this dude ends up being something, this could be really, really bad.
  4. Hawk was / is the best. My all time favorite announcer of any squad - followed closely 2nd by Stacey King / Johnny Red. Still can't believe we won't get to hear King call games anymore.
  5. There was balance in the force with Hawk. You could tell when he was mad or frustrated. Sometimes he would just come out and say it, and hte other times he would do that quiet slow burn. But I do agree he wasn't going to lie to you in that he wouldn't say something he didn't believe.
  6. Mason Adams shutting down the Sox offense for 6 scoreless in late September to help clinch the division for Cleveland is going to be painful.
  7. Meanwhile, Jo Addell has an .861 OPS with the Guardians.
  8. It's trades like these that make me question whether Getz is actually a good GM. It was an awful, questionable trade and everybody saw that from the start (well, except for all the White Sox insiders "shockingly"). Doyle was one of the worst hitter in the league while playing in Coors. He's always been bad outside of Coors. What exactly was the motivation for acquiring him? We really wanted a no-bat defensive outfield that badly?
  9. Should have went with Adell instead of Doyle considering the cost.
  10. Adell is not a CF, he'd just be worse Grichuk here.
  11. Randazzo seems like a no brainer if he wants to come back to Chicago. Amin is busy with the Bulls and national gigs. Does he have enough time to call the Sox too? Whoops, quoted an old post.
  12. Holmes likely would have cost Carlson or Bonemer.
  13. To add to this ......I would have loved to have Clay holmes compared to Castillo.
  14. I wonder what the difference in cost for us would have been to get Joe Adell instead of Doyle? Adell has 4 HRs already since joining Cleveland. Cleveland only gave up a catching prospect for him and Adell also has one more year of control. He would look a lot better in the lineup than Doyle.
  15. Vielma on the helium portion of the hot sheet today.
  16. Two things: 1.) People are livid and even followed his production at Pittsburgh. “Gonzo hit a homer against the Guardians. Sure could have used that.” Blah blah blah. Yet then when he began to fall off, get pushed down the lineup, and was removed from the everyday lineup - it was crickets. 2.) I put Thome’s name in quotes when referencing “the return” because that was wha People incorrectly equated the trade as representing. While partially true, it’s incomplete. Without that additional bonus space we wouldn’t have gotten three arguable first rounders. If you really think people weren’t upset - refresh your memory.
  17. Hawk and Benetti were very different in style, but had a lot of the same things going for them that are also my biggest beefs with Schriffen They both loved and had a deep understanding of baseball They loved the White Sox They both had out there personalities. Hawk being a half-insane cartoon character, and Jason being an affable and proud dork. I honestly think Schriffen will be a fine broadcaster, but he doesn’t have those things and he never will, and when you’re calling 162 games it just doesn’t work.
  18. They haven't had a long losing streak either.
  19. That’s honestly the thing that puts me off Schriff so much. It like he’s reading press copy from Brooks Boyer for like 75% of the broadcast it feels so much more disingenuous coming from him than it ever did with Hawk, because at least with Hawk you knew he’d genuinely get in a fist fight if AJ Pierzynski asked him to. Schriffen is just some guy.
  20. Sox looking into doing a Kumamon night next season for the mascot of Mune's hometown. Chicago Sun-TimesWhite Sox might bring in popular Japanese mascot to pinch...Kumamon, the beloved icon of rookie first baseman Munetaka Murakami's hometown, is being scouted for a guest appearance.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumamon
  21. The Rockies doing what Getz just should have done.
  22. Or Castillo. The problem really is that Getz traded for waiver wire talents. Grab it (which he has); don't make serious trades for it. Sox need to get something out of Thorpe and Sandlin.
  23. Damn talk about “remembering some guys”
  24. 32 games left to decide whether this will go down as one of the most memorable seasons, or a “fun team but….” Afterthought in twenty years. the rides been fun but the stakes have ratcheted quite a bit.
  25. Yea, that's Grichuk at 1.1 f WAR; Mr Clutch is 0.1 FWar (updated with Sunday's action). And this WAR business for DH is a little confusing as it also includes their defensive prowess (negative for both, although I don't remember Beni playing the field at all this season) which isn't relevant to DH analysis. Still, there is room for improvement at least on the left side and there is more room at the inn for young hitters.
