The scary thing is if you assume Benetendi is a DH, Melendez and Kelenic could be arguably your 2nd and 3rd best major league outfielders as negative players. While I agree that they should be AAA fodder, if he comes in they'll be releasing articles about swing changes, have a "welcome back to Chicago, MJ" giveaway night, and seeking out banners of former players who are dead for him and Kelenic to walk in front of.
-
Yep, it should be most if not all of theyear i still think he will return though.
-
I'm just wondering who you think populates AAA rosters.

Guys got 1600 at bats in his career an a -1.1 career WAR. Between him and Kelenic, they've got 3000ish career AB's and a .2 WAR. You extrapolate that out over another 30,000 AB's and boom, you've just stole 2 WAR! The White Sox Moto: Where guys with 1500 career at-bats go to "get their opportunity" to show what they can do!

we get their rule 5 guys

Have you ever been a fan of such teams that often fail in the post season? You get less sensitive too it.

OD 26 Man Roster Projection
Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have no faith yet, but he’s also very to the OF and had to learn on the fly. If you look at his advanced metrics, his defense in the corners was bad as he wasn’t getting good reads on the ball. His range was perfectly fine and he had actually had an average OOA in CF in a SSS. I’m more optimistic than confidence than it makes sense. -
I'd be completely fine with Melendez. Big power potential, and nice beard

January 22, 1960 - The White Sox introduced the first Major League baseball jersey that had a player’s name on the back. It was the brain child of owner Bill Veeck. At first the name was only on the road jersey but starting in 1961 names were also on the backs of the home jerseys. The White Sox then removed the player names in 1971 before bringing them back in 1976. Names were removed again from 1987 to 1990, but were added only on the road uniform midway through 1990. Their alternate black uniform would have player names when first introduced in 1991. Player names would return to the home uniform in 1997. January 22, 1996 - The Sox dealt two minor leaguers to Oakland for slugger Danny Tartabull. The enigmatic Tartabull who had as much talent as anyone, but often didn’t show it, put together a very good season on the South Side, with 27 home runs and 101 RBI’s. The two minor leaguers sent to the A’s were never heard from again. Danny then signed a free agent deal with the Phillies the following year. His best game for the White Sox came in Boston on September 14 that season when he drove in six runs in a 13-5 win at Fenway Park. He went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. Four of his RBI’s came on an eighth inning grand slam.

This is pretty much where I'm settling. If they kept him on the team, I'd hope for him to play 140 games and move back towards his ceiling. I was pretty much resigned to him being an 85 OPS+ dude who would play 100 games a year. I'm not interested in playing Back to the Future to determine the exact second Getz messed up by not making the perfect move.
-
Because he has spent so much time moving around, I hope that you put him with the defensive outfield coach and work all spring at predominantly one position. Can't imagine he doesn't get to decent. With his speed and if Acuna is in centerfield, you could actually cover a lot of ground in the outfield and help your pitching staff.
-
It's crazy that their pitching still looks good.
-
Whoa
-
Yeah that was my first thought. While he hasn't caught much the last few year, he would serve as your emergency/third catcher.

When he signed with Boras they gave him options of trainers he could work with to improve in all kinds of things. That a part of being a Boras client. Boras wants to make sure his clients understand they are a product that he will present as shiny as possible. That's how the top agencies work. Of course Robert has to buy into it and might have had to sever old ties with previous trainers .

I understand the logic in a guy like Melendez, simply because he can play - but isn’t limited to - catcher, thus allowing Teel/Quero to DH without Venable worrying. I don’t have interest in Melendez specifically, but as a minor league deal its fine.
-
There is a fair chance the dude just saw your post and shared it as his info.
-
Well, I'm not sure where he got the info from, but the MJ interest is legit. Courtney isn't one to make something up.

And now Getz destroys all the good will from the Murakami signing... -
Yeah, we were all caught in the glow of beating the Packers in the playoffs (rightly so) but that injury was a massive blow for the future. LT is incredibly important and now that position has to become a priority in the offseason, for a team that already is going to have to fill a bunch of holes.
