Mat Ishbia’s estimated net worth has fallen by more than $3B since March.
Where are the reports of him wanting to move out of Chicago?? I am pretty certain you made that up.

I hear it's a top destination for older American expats. You getting any ideas, BamaDoc?

I discussed my thoughts about Private Equity some time ago, which are pretty much in concert with Warren Buffet's. In discussing my thoughts I posted a University of Chicago Business Law Review Article: "The Dark Side of Private Equity" Personally, having gone through (personally and professionally) the stock market bubble in the early 2000's and the 2008 Mortgage bubble, my views on PEI, and in particular, PEI in Health Care and the Home Mortgage sectors have hardened. Those were not PEI related necessarily, but they were "bubblicious" like Ishbia's United Home Mortgage asset is proving to be. Regarding the Reinsdorf/Ishbia deal, at least as reported: https://archive.ph/ZcEvG That deal struck me as a classic private equity/ leveraged buy-out. considering Ishbia's PEI promise to "pay-down debt" of the White Sox. Of course, leveraging debt is precisely what PEI do to gain leverage/control, manipulate valuation of assets, and ultimately make money, often at the cost of others. Meanwhile, I have no idea what White Sox debt Ishbia restructured and whether that restructured debt has done anything other than benefiting his own corporate/stock position. Regarding the reports that Ishbia is hell bent on moving the White Sox from their historical home, I think he should fvk off, fvk all the way off back to Michigan. Nothing he has done or reportedly done or proposed doing makes a stitch of sense to me. It's a high stakes fishing expedition. I recently read a post here suggestion a retractable roof stadium. Great idea but no, that kind of stadium would not fit on what is left of the "78" or the 47 acres across the canal that his PEI firm has a contingent deal to purchase. Of course he can sign another deal to add to the 47 acres or do whatever he wants.

This, plus a World Series win should stuff the resume enough to get Leo canonized.

They'd better get back to being red hot by the time they play the rest of our division.

The Red Sox have lost 3 in a row.

Tanner McDougal and Hagen Smith promoted, Sandlin and Schultz optioned to AAA
Urquidy, Shane Smith, Sandlin, Schultz, Schweitzer (that's a lot of S's), even Rock are arguably better options than Gilbert though none are particularly good options for this stretch run. Wikelman has a chance to actually be a good back of the bullpen guy. His pitch mix is unique and fairly devastating if he isn't walking 5 guys per 9. Maybe he'll never stop walking the world but Gilbert also struggles to throw strikes. Seems like everyone in the system does nowadays.

It looks like the Pope already pulled a few strings to get the severe weather out of the area before tonight's game.

White Sox DFA Austin Hays
The Padres tried and failed to add a bat before the trade deadline, but were able to scoop one up (Hays) after the fact without giving up anything in return. "You could argue you should trade somebody [for him]," manager Craig Stammen said, "and we didn't have to trade anybody to get him."

Tuesday night sellout v the Reds is nuts!

Right. Players can't be placed on our 26-man roster unless they're actually in our organization. I didn't think this needed to be spelled out so plainly, but here we are.

At least until he leaves the Sox.

Vibes are so high
https://www.mlb.com/news/all-mlb-team-predictions-for-august-2026 Mune and "Spidey" Vargas receive All-MLB votes... Yordan over Ohtani at DH...might be the two MVP's there unless Dodgers keep sliding, and he doesn't return to mound. (Not sure who voted for Tatis and his 760ish ops.)

Sox interested in Jorge Mateo
I remember rumblings they were interested in him as a 2B back in the Hahn era.

Legit lol’d at the names of the priests involved in this when I saw the release of what’s gonna happen at this game. Having guys involved in this that like 80% of south side Catholics would be like ‘oh yeah I know that guy’ is honestly why being a fan of this team is worth all the nonsense.

Mat Ishbia’s estimated net worth has fallen by more than $3B since March.
"An individual private equity fund can hold no more than a 15 percent stake in a club under the rules of Major League Baseball. The exact percentage of Apollo's stake was not announced. Forbes' annual list of MLB franchise valuations listed the Yankees at $8.5 billion in March." In addition to the baseball team, Yankee Global Enterprises' assets include the YES Network and stakes in MLS club New York City FC and Italian soccer team AC Milan, all of which could benefit from the new money. Apollo Sports Capital is a branch of Apollo Global Management, a New York-based firm with nearly $1 trillion in assets under management. Apollo became the majority stakeholder of Spanish soccer power Atletico Madrid in 2025. reuters.com

Reds come in with worst offense in MLB by wRC+. Be nice to see Burke dominant tonight and the other guys keep it going.
