I'm reading that the Reds are going to trade De La Cruz. I wonder if Getz would try and trade for him.
  3. Powell was a bandaid to try and make them look competitive...which was flawed from the start. They need a true identity and run and gun was the idea...but when you play such awful defense...getting into transition isn't easy. this team is painful to watch, and I fear Matas will be sacrificed due to Splitter's inability to game scheme. Really thought he was going to be a good fit, but it is real bad right now with not a lot of hope in sight.

  5. And Tulsky (who just won a Stanley Cup GM'ing the Hurricanes) is the guy Danny Wirtz passed on to hire his buddy Kyle Davidson.
  6. Sounds like Chen is the one about to go scoreless
  7. At times it looks like high schoolers trying to pass the ball around the court against NBA players. Giddey has stretches where he turns it over seemingly every possession.
  8. Wonder how many times she witnessed Cy Chen go 7 scoreless vs. The Sox
  9. Like I said, Milwaukee, Cleveland and Tampa are incredible at what they do, but if you can't keep your guys for more than 4-5 years, it makes the loooong runs nearly impossible. You see it in their ups and downs. It's great Milwaukee developed a guy like Misiorowski, but if he ends up a Dodger in two to three years, then the Brewers have to start all over.
  10. I haven't watched a second of the Bulls this season, and I am feeling pretty good about that.
  11. It is amazing how after that Keith, Kane, Toews etc core aged out, this franchise has done NOTHING. It reminds me of going from the Roenick, Belfour etc, era to wandering lost in the woods for a decade.
  12. I'd start with, what's "no experience"? I would think a big skill needed for the job is the ability to command respect. A lot of dudes with major league playing experience walk right into a manager's position, and they have that. Pete Rose comes to mind. Didn't Larry Dierker do that for the Astros for a time? He stepped out of the booth and took his team to the playoffs 4 of 5 seasons. Jimy Williams took over and didn't do much better with the same team. Phil Garner reached the apex with that crew when he lost the 2005 World Series. Nowadays, a lot of the technical stuff is handled upstairs - batting orders, bullpen usage, etc. He makes the in-game calls. It comes down to what the Mariners think their team's shortcomings were. They seriously underperformed expectations at bat, didn't they? I don't know if a hitting coach as manager elevates their offensive game. As it seems to be the trend right now, clearing out the old school old-heads for guys who are open to discussing statistically guided gameplans, and a focus on some of the newer tech and philosophies mixes it up. Kanzler just ran Development for the Cubs the last three years, and as we all know, that means he runs the day-to-day for every aspect of an organization. So, is he "really" inexperienced? Kidding aside, I'd imagine he knows the rules, will have a coaching staff to help him out with getting the bullpen loosened up at the right times, etc. This move does look aimed at Raleigh, Naylor and Hoo-Rod, and maybe Kanzler's ability to create a safe-space and a gameplan for them to excel.
  13. Ew, yuck. Ah, well, it is an NRI and we might not even play this season.
  14. October 2025 surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
  15. Sooner they clean house the better - how the current front office has gotten so much grace is beyond me.
  16. TJS guy, or something else?
  17. Showed promise in ‘24
  18. Hasn't pitched in over two years. Has a connection with Bove.
  19. Yeah, the Brewers are obviously an extremely well run organization. But, they face a revenue crunch compared to other teams. The Rays very much intend to emulate the Battery at their new stadium in Tampa. The Royals are ditching the acres of surface lots for a downtown/stadium district development. The Sox should be benefiting big time from being in the 3rd largest market in the US, but they instead had the lowest revenue stream of all MLB teams in 2025. That'll improve after this year, but they aren't going to shoot up to big market status either.
  20. You could almost argue they've been lucky the last few years with the Bears ascending, both teams have been able to fly under the radar more, as fans attention are placed elsewhere. The Bulls continue to be the Bulls, but the Blackhawks situation is probably worse, literally nothing has gone right. They've been rebuilding for 5 years and have produced absolutely NO results. And the payoff for those last 5 years are mostly on the team right now, from my understanding the prospect pool isn't very exciting right now across the Blackhawks organization. And that might be the worst part....to fix this, you might be in for another 4-5 year rebuild, but by different people running the show. There is no end in sight here.
  21. What about Milwaukee is a great question. What about using every single option available to you is an even better question. Teams like Milwaukee, and expanding the window outward to Tampa and Cleveland are flashes in the pan based on their ability to pack a lot of talent together in a short period of time, until they get too expensive and you have to start all over again. Meanwhile the LAD have been in the playoffs 14 times in a row and won WS in 3 of the last 7 seasons. Why not the Dodgers, I say. Hell why not both? In order to play at the top consistently, year after year, you have to have a steady and large revenue flow. It's not the only thing, but it is the most important.
  22. The key is they are finally bringing it down to the studs - this regime inherited an awful situation outside of jumping into top 4 which was huge. But this is a really flawed team - Giddey no d, Matas was squint and hope and he is an NBA player but he isn’t some star by any stretch - too many flaws as of now, but he’ll get plenty of opportunities to develop. Noah might be second most exciting piece purely because of his raw defensive tools - but he can’t do much on offense but again get him minutes and see what he can develop into over a few years. And then Caleb - you see it, but we do have to surround him with some solid vet leadership to help ensure we are showing him and the other young players the right way to do this…but this team is awful and it’s thanks in large part to the horrendous front office regime of the past.
  23. Teams are racing to copy what Atlanta and St. Louis have done with their entertainment districts for good reason - not only do they generate money but they get more fans to go to games. The era of relying on fans to only want to drive to the game, see it, and drive back home is over. All the "what about Milwaukee?" or "I personally just want to see the game and that's it because I'm a real fan" arguments don't change this economic reality. Then the question becomes whether they could simply create a booming entertainment district at the current site that'll thrive year-round considering that there are 280 days a year that the Sox don't play at home.
  24. NBA Hell. The neverending rebuild.
