  1. Past hour
  2. There goes whatever made-up interest that was.
  3. I will even go out on a limb here. If the Sox had a choice between the Japanese player and getting nothing for Robert, or no Murakami, but picking up cash to get a major return for Robert, with where the franchise is in 2026 and 2027, I take the later every time. We are still no where near our window, and these deals in isolation don't help us get there.
  4. Except the sunk cost fallacy implies the alternative is better here, which isn't really true, especially when we're talking about perhaps the worst opening day outfield in MLB history here.
  5. Kind of tells you everything you needed to know about what this organization has been about, and the fix was in.
  6. I mean, I get that. I'm in the camp that this is better than buying out Robert. Getz clearly made a fine decision there. But the return is basically nothing. Neither of these guys are going to contribute to the next good Sox team. Acuna would highly likely have been DFA by NYM before opening day and Pauley is more or less just a guy and it would be amazing development if he ever even reached a 40 man roster. I don't expect the Sox to be good next season, but they are considerably worse without Robert. I, for one, was looking forward to him having a smudge of protection and a watchable offense if he played well.
  7. I made this analogy a year ago, aka sunk cost fallacy
  8. Disagree. They obviously evaluated his stuff and like him.
  9. Ex.Act.Ly! What's crazy is I'm going to be looking for some Luis MVP odds if a book posts him outside of Other! Will be hilarious when the Mets "fix" him and the mob starts to turn on MEME worthy Fuller!
  10. "This is an easy concept to understand intuitively. I guarantee that you’ve done something similar in your life before. As a former markets guy, it feels to me like hanging on to a stock too long even as it keeps going down. When it’s at 80, you want 85 for it. When it’s at 60, you want 65. Pretty soon, it’s at 20 and you’re wondering if someone will pay you 18. Some of the rumored returns for Robert would dwarf what the Sox ultimately got for him, but they were playing a game of chicken with their potential trade suitors, and they lost." from fangraphs article today on the trade.
  11. Today
  12. Everyone else that has left has been pretty much the exact same player.
  13. I was poking Jerry and his tight-fisted ways. Hays would be one of my position player targets at this point.
  14. I will evaluate it on Robert's performance with the Mets. I will be looking at it to see if this organization is truly baseball hell.
  15. Yeah, wish this was like all the other fan forums where people hold hands, agreed and shared incredibly valuable and predictive information and only that. You posting this is like me telling someone they come off as abrasive online.
  16. Yesterday
  17. Maybe I'm crazy but I don't think the trade sucks, because of how injured and bad Robert has been the last two seasons. People are still thinking of him as the young player with potential rather than the 28 year old who has combined for 1.9 fWAR over the last two seasons. He sucks now, it is what it is.
  18. There have been articles related to other teams on this topic.
  19. I'm sure I'm one of the worst ones.
  20. Give me something to criticize Getz for, and I'll do it. I'm not sure why I have to pretend that innocuous things are bad so I can be enraged.
  21. Cedrick Mullins, Leody Taveras, Lane Thomas and JJ Bleday are the CFs who have been signed. Which one of those did the White Sox miss out on? 2026 Free Agent Tracker | RosterResource | FanGraphs Baseball
  22. I still believe all of that, as evidenced by Getz holding onto Robert last TDL. I believe they wanted to trade him, but would have kept and played him if they couldn't get what they wanted. Acuña's been mentioned since last July, so maybe they finally decided to let him go. I'll admit that my opinions are fluid as things change.
  23. In fairness, the Sox could have traded Robert for a 16 year old in the DSL and this statement would still hold true. It doesn’t mean that Acuna and Pauley are anything special though.
  24. I think they’ll add someone cheaper
  25. Do we know what was really offered? Not challenging just figure I missed it
  26. Getz said the magic words that armchair GM's love . Trades !!
  27. Bader and Robert are a wash and I assume Bader won’t cost $20M AAV so I’d rather have him over the next two seasons.
