2027 Offense
Just from a prospect perspective, I think Sato actually profiles a lot like Mune offensively. I think Mune has more power and plate discipline, while Sato has a slightly better hit tool. I thought Sato would be much better at making contact in NPB given he just won the triple crown, but his contact rates are only about 3% better than Mune's in NPB. That's far below (around 10% lower) Okamoto and Seiya Suzuki's NPB numbers. Just for reference, Okamoto made a ton of contact in Japan and even he struck out nearly 30% this year in MLB. It seems like Sato is better against velocity and off-speed pitches, so that may help his transition to MLB, but his mediocre plate discipline may limit his ceiling. Still, a guy who struck out nearly 27% of the time in NPB will most likely strike out at >30% clip in MLB. He might profile a lot like Okamoto, but just more in his prime with more power and better defense.

Can the Sox afford to outbid other clubs to get Sato patrolling in LF or RF? Probably not. Can Soxtalk work it's magic again and get Sato on the team? Definitely.

Hearing some of these stories about him not being able to sleep while he was in the UK because it was risky and yet he somehow started and played is crazy. Wish Hurts all the best and hope he can get treated and healthy.

That was I believe his lowest air yards thrown in a game in his career - I have to think him watching from the sidelines played a part in that, also the gameplan was probably designed to get Caleb some early confidence - but to his credit he executed excellently.

Exactly - Roschon doesn't fumble and I don't even know if the defensive starters are back. Offense looked smooth and Roschon was on pace for a nice run when he fumbled. I think Monagai is out again this week. Hopefully Bears can execute the short-turn around and play a crisp game and win against Pats. Would be huge and then they can get the extra rest which they will absolutely need and hopefully get Kyle back at that point (plus we'd be getting Montez back too).

“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
This is the kind of thing that I like to spin my wheels on - if one could start from scratch, what features does one want within a stadium; what kind of food; how would the levels of seating be done best; etc. You bringing up the heat/cool makes me ponder how much of an infield main concourse could be climate-controlled (or at least offset, and by what means? geothermal heat pumps feeding radiant heat in the floors? those heat lamps in the ceiling?). I like that Kansas City is thinking about maximizing shade for their seating bowl - how could the same be best done here? Stuff like that. For example, if I could change anything about how baseball stadiums lay out their seating, I'd find a way to bring the suite level down to immediately beneath the concourse (and lowering the upper level down), and I'd spread the super-premium seating area (today's Scout Seats) into 5-6 identical zones separated/interspersed/encircled by regular seats. I've sat in the Scout Seats - I was really close to the action, but not appreciably closer than I was when I sat to either side.

Could be the script for The Rookie 2 Started at Oregon State like Drew Rasmussen, Kwan, Madrigal Rutschman, Larnach, Conforto "In 2017, Booser was suspended 50 games after testing positive for cannabis.[8][9] After making three appearances for Fort Myers during the season, Booser retired on November 20, 2017.[2] Booser returned to the Seattle area to work as a carpenter.[2][10] Missing baseball, he began to give pitching lessons in 2020, and found that he could throw a fastball at 96 miles per hour (154 km/h).[2]"

I am hoping that Caleb getting to sit and watch the first Case game helped him visualize the Ben Johnson offense.- 2027 Offense
After seeing Cam Booser pitch in high leverage yesterday. I thought if the Sox trade Colson to Milwaukee he will hit 45 homers with a .07% strike out rate, win a Gold Glove and be named the NL MVP.- 2026 NFL thread
Right but I agree that things started to go the wrong way with that fumble and Walkers stupid head butting penalty, not so much the defense swapping out. Once those things happened it put the defense on their heels- The Official Scoreboard watching thread

The refs were not in control of the game and there was 1 second left for one more play. ND did indeed get hosed, but they shot themselves in the foot. Their QB had a clunker of a game; he was off just a bit and missed 2 easy TD passes. Plus, ND has no excuse for their elite pass rusher getting ejected for targeting on BYU's opening drive. This goes under the radar but had a huge impact on the game. The BYU D lineman admitted to yelling HUT at the goal line at the end of the 1st half which is a penalty. The play was ruled a fumble and ND came away with no points. BYU D-lineman admits yelling 'Hut!' before CJ Carr's costly fumble- The Official Scoreboard watching thread
Guardians really have no choice but to start G.Williams on three days' rest... Peralta already announced. That would leave Nick Martinez and Jax also in TB bullpen with one held back to start a possible G7 on Tuesday. Rough travel schedule to fly and then have two more consecutive games with the state of the CLE bullpen.- 2026 NFL thread
Why do the Cowboys get so many nationally televised games? They suck- Fire Chris Getz
I think he had a really good agent and his background (at the time at least) looked good on paper as a "new age" analytics background. Of course he didn't really push analytics, he just had a worthless MBA and a slick lawyer like effect to him. IIRC the rumors were that we kept him and promoted him when he had interest from other clubs, including the Red Sox. Probably all just hogwash planted by his agent in hindsight. The guy was clearly in way over his head. He was good at contracts, absolutely trash tier at everything else.- 2026 College Football Thread
ND got double hosed following missing playoffs a year ago. But 1 second left and a clear PI on the play. Was a heck of a game either way though and had Miami lost it may have been one of the craziest weekends I can remember in college football.- 2026 NFL thread
Reality is Roschon had a nice run and they were moving it he just coughed it up. Jones had opened up a big hole along with Newman on the play where Roschon fumbled.- 2026 NFL thread
Fantastic win - penalties have to get under control and Caleb took a few early sacks in first half where he has to get the ball out of his hands but overall that was such a clean game by Caleb and the D. They made it to worrisome in the end - the penalties and Roschons fumble were no bueno. Kyler played electric! Was great seeing the ball spread around so much and seeing Loveland early and often in this one. - 2026 NFL thread
