“The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
It's more than that now. But I'd say Arlington is pretty similar, a bit more run down and socioeconomically low mid. Both ver racially diverse and low density.

Plano to me just feels like neighborhood after neighborhood of $325,000-475,000 houses it's also not being criss crossed by major highways to the same extent

Plano and Arlington are both pretty suburban. Have about the same density. I'd are tgey have have a pretty similar feel as far as the built environment goes.

Rangers have always been in Arlington.

An ominous future...
"Lots of people want to be owners and lots of people don't realize how hard it is to be an owner. I keep telling people, it's not as easy as I thought," he said. "The owners care more about winning than making money. They're not against making money. Of course, they don't want to lose money. The obsession with winning and beating your competitors is really what drives these people who own these teams. There's nothing as satisfying as winning a championship." but Rubinstein also said this Ofc he's in the AL East too

The new stadium in the South Loop would be a tremendous thing for the White Sox, White Sox fans, the City of Chicago and the South Loop. I can't believe the City of Chicago wouldn't want this to happen. But I agree with you, I won't believe it until there are shovels in the ground. I try not to think this way but what happens if this project does not go forward. I know Ishbia doesn't want to stay at the Rate.

The Official Scoreboard watching thread
https://www.mlb.com/news/brewers-to-face-rays-or-guardians-in-2026-world-series They couldn't watch that series and not say the better team won... Brewers were faster younger more exciting dynamic swing speed/ev etc. Plus MIZ. Padres had the much more competitive series and fluky plays like France off the ceiling G1 and Machado's HR ball being robbed.

Here's what he has to say about that as well as other things they did when they took over the Phoenix Suns.

Atlanta has been rated as the most sprawled major league city in America whereas Chicago is ranked as one of the least sprawled cities and has one of the most robust transit systems in America. The idea of the Railyards development is to integrate it with the city, not create some isolated entertainment district way out in the burbs. That'll work for the Bears in AH because they play once a week usually on Sundays. Also, Arlington Heights is far away from the heart of the Sox fan base of the South Side and S & SW suburbs. Good luck getting those fans to drive out to AH 81 times a year. https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2026/sprawl-rankings-reveal-health-benefits-and-cost-offsets-in-compact-connected-us-county-and-metro-areas https://publichealth.jhu.edu/center-for-smart-transportation/the-2025-metropolitan-sprawl-rankings

Arlington is suburban? Plus, they have the Cowboys' stadium in the same area. Six Flags and the airport, etc. But Plano is true suburban DFW. The Chiefs/Royals are the only similar setup with miles of parking lots in the middle of nowhere...and both are leaving for greener, separate pastures. Absolutely nothing to do there but tailgate for football games. Or the Meadowlands...but they built one of the biggest malls in America not so far from there, right?

This is a way more than a ballpark village.

Hopefully Caleb Bonemer will alleviate the situation.

I'm guessing you have to go back to Roland Hemond who after he was stupidly let go in favor of Hawk Harrelson he was eventually hired by the Orioles and won another Executive of the Year Award.

That is one weak hitting outfield. Not enough power.

2027 Rotation
What in the world are you talking about in regard to Sean Burke?

Interesting you bring up Atlanta. Wouldn't that be the blueprint for an Arlington Heights development in the suburbs? They left the city. We could also mention the Rangers who went suburban.

Fire Chris Getz
I think what Getz did best at the deadline was hanging on to key players. He swung and missed on some gambles. I'm trying to remember the last GM to leave the Sox and get hired anywhere. Their career exit is usually toes before nose. If Getz was fired today I believe he'd be hired quickly.

The Battery in Atlanta has been so wildly successful that other teams are racing to create their own stadium districts. The Baseball Village in St. Louis has also been a huge success. Downtown St. Louis is pretty dead other than the Arch and the Busch Stadium/Baseball Village development as far as I could tell, but that's not the fault of the stadium development and the Baseball Village has been a big success for the Cardinals nonetheless.

Chase is a gold glove candidate at second base. Antonacci is one of the best hitters so he has to be in the line-up. Sam has said that he does not want to DH on a regular basis so where else, other than LF, would he play? So...OF - Sam in LF, Doyle in CF, Peters in RF....because Tristan is a better fielder and hitter than Braden IMO. Braden becomes the 4th outfielder. Infield stays the same, unless one of the SS prospects blows everyone away in Spring Training. At this point, that seems unlikely, IMO.

Ishbia mentioned at the conference the other day how they took the NBA Suns off cable TV and put them on free TV. I wonder if that's the game plan for the White Sox in the future. Free TV would reach more fans than cable.

I wonder how many of the "ballpark as a center piece for development" plans have worked out. It didn't in San Antonio so they are heading back downtown.
